Inspired Judgemental IE6 Splash Page

If you practice website standards either as a website designer or website developer, you’d know the countless frustration working with Internet Explorer 6 (IE6). But here comes something you can put all your anger into and let out expressively – especially, if you write a blog. The judgemental IE6 splash page was inspired by Joe … Read more

Will Netbooks Change The Internet Experience?

netbookNetbooks are like the next generation of consumer mobile computers or notebooks right now. What’s even more surprising is this comes not late after the super low-cost laptops for poverty stricken countries. But there’s nothing to complain, because more laptops means a more Internet connected community.

Sure, we’ll have more Internet addicts and black hat hackers on the prowl but at least netbooks are making technology advancements quicker. It’s become an instant hit even Wikipedia has an article about it already.

A netbook is a light-weight, low-cost, energy-efficient, highly portable laptop that achieves these parameters by offering fewer features, less processing power and reduced ability to run resource-intensive operating systems.

Malaysia and The Fair Usage Policy

Someone once told me, “Malaysians are as kiasu (selfish) as Singaporeans”. And I can’t help but agree to it in certain situations I’ve been in. Plus, I’d like to admit personally, I myself don’t like abiding to certain limitations. One of it being; limited Internet download capacity.

However, everything happens for a reason and every action has a reaction. From my discussion with the PacketOne staff, I’ve come to understand why the fair usage policy is inserted and practiced in Internet providers – not only Malaysia. But, how much do you think our capacity should be limited?

Open Floor Discussion With PacketOne Staff

During my recent visit to GreenPacket’s office for their special tour, a group of us with selected key staff from PacketOne Networks (P1, for short) had an open floor discussion. The discussion was to openly share what we thought of the Internet in Malaysia, its offerings and our expectation from P1.

The moment I heard this, I knew finally here’s a Malaysia ISP who really wants to make a difference. And if you know me well enough, this is a difference I’d support without second thoughts. Simple, because Malaysia has a large pool of talent but they’ve been mistreated, misunderstood and under appreciated. Don’t you want to put a stop to this?

Death to Malaysia Internet Companies Thanks to Our Internet Connection

Even without having to stress about our problematic Internet connection here in Malaysia, any international or foreign expatriate living here would’ve realized our Internet connection is nothing compared to their home country.

Previously, someone from MDeC contacted me and asked my opinion of what could be limiting the potential of e-business in Malaysia. Educating Malaysia businesses on setting up Internet businesses is one but without reliable Internet connection, would you see a benefit of doing Internet business locally? Don’t even think about internationally if your Internet business is hosted in Malaysia.

How Much Will The New Maybank2u Lose?

Updated October 17, 2008 @ 4:19PM:
Guys, David told me I can login via the Classic version now.

Though there were good times of attending the new Maybank2u sneak preview, I’m beginning to worry about their website now – I’m very worried.

Despite it not being the end of the world, I’ve always used Maybank2u for a number of important online tasks; fund transfers and mobile topup. All of this is being done online because I don’t want to have to force myself to visit a 7-Eleven to get my topup or go to the ATM (which breaks down often) nearby. My tasks are so common it makes me now ponder; how much online transactions is Maybank2u losing right now due to their heavy load?

Using Google Chrome Internet Browser For 24 Hours

There is a new Internet browser in the market and brought to us by the boys (and girls) of Google Inc. I found out about their new Internet browser; Chrome, yesterday via their Inside Adsense email newsletter. The way I see it, their Internet browser will be in direct competition to Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Safari. And yes, if you want me to mention it – Internet Explorer.

I’ve been using Chrome almost completely the whole day yesterday except during the time I had a meeting in the afternoon. This was because Chrome is only released for Windows at the moment. *wails* But as I type this entry on Chrome, I’m slowly noticing and appreciating the additional potential it has to offer me. So, how does Google Chrome fair against the others?

How Do You Select an Internet Broadband Provider?

picture of lady on sofaOver a mamak session, I was discussing with a couple of friends about the recent troubled Internet connection I’ve been experiencing. As usual, similar complaints started coming out and all directed to only 1 provider. Needless to say, we all know who since they monopolize the market. LOL!

Despite our laughter, relating our own customer service cases and the useless results which spawned from it we started debating over what’s more important for an Internet provider in Malaysia. Was it the speed of the Internet connection packages? Was it the price with the fuel hike now and soon? Or, was it efficient and knowledgeable customer service support?
