MCMC Dooms The Malaysia High Speed Broadband Project

I personally feel the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has doomed Malaysia Internet users to kingdom come for broadband. Though I’ve heard the MCMC board are really knowledgeable and respected. But their recent decision of leaving the whole High Speed Broadband Project (HSBB) to TMNet for 7 years left me in disbelief of their abilities or observation on what’s happening to our Malaysia broadband state now.

I mean seriously, haven’t they ever heard of one if not thousands (or millions) of complaints the TMNet Streamyx users have voiced all over the Internet? In fact, there is even a Facebook group condemning the ISP and worst, their customer service. Plus, TMNet doesn’t even care if they’re losing 80% of the business online.

How Do You Select an Internet Broadband Provider?

picture of lady on sofaOver a mamak session, I was discussing with a couple of friends about the recent troubled Internet connection I’ve been experiencing. As usual, similar complaints started coming out and all directed to only 1 provider. Needless to say, we all know who since they monopolize the market. LOL!

Despite our laughter, relating our own customer service cases and the useless results which spawned from it we started debating over what’s more important for an Internet provider in Malaysia. Was it the speed of the Internet connection packages? Was it the price with the fuel hike now and soon? Or, was it efficient and knowledgeable customer service support?

TMNet Monopoly Will Fall Soon

wimax logoIf I had the money, I’d sue them for mental disturbance and health related issues. For one, I believe an Internet subscriber could probably get grey hair from stressing out over a lousy Internet connection daily. And, the connection has been a b*tch the past few days.

I sure hope when the 4 Malaysia Wimax license holders; Green Packet Bhd, REDtone International Bhd, YTL E-Solutions Bhd and Asiaspace Dotcom Sdn Bhd, release the new Internet wireless standard then TMNet will crumble. But I wonder how does Wimax really work?
