Malaysia Companies Are Improving Work Environments

Being the co-founder of a registered Malaysia website design company; Simpleet, I’ve to do some research on local working environments. But not to worry, because I also know about the awesome-ness of the Google office work environments. Plus, I’m seeing more companies now realizing and adopting the need for an enjoyable work environment for their employees.

One company I’ve been given the chance to experience this, the new GreenPacket headquarters located beside the Federal Highway. A little history of the building is its been there for a number of years rented out to bear large advertisements. I know this because I’ve been residing in PJ all my life and I’ve passed it when I studied high school. So, let me show you how one Malaysia company has changed their work environment.

The ground floor is made their P1 Flagship store to cater for their Wireless and Wimax customers. I really like how they’ve uplifted and used the large space of the lobby. It’s very spacious with long drapes almost making you feel you’re at a hotel lobby then a customer server center.

Also, besides being the customer service center they’ve setup 4 Wimax demonstration units for you. Each of the Wimax demonstration units mimic the 4 Wimax packages they’re currently offering; 400Kbps, 700Kbps, 1.2Mbps and 2.4Mbps.

Our small little tour group went upwards once everyone arrived. As pictures speak a thousand words, here are my shots and later followed by the description of the images.

Okay, you already noticed the lift had more than ample space. Following that were shots of their support headquarters. In the CSI looking room, their technicians monitor the Wimax usage and ensures everything is tip-top. On Level 5, their heroes or villains in the company get to stretch their legs and close their eyes – literally. There are 2 foosball tables, a pool table, 3 42-inch LCD televisions, a PlayStation3 (soon to be added), a XBOX (360 – I think, also to be added) and 2 massage chairs in what they call the fishbowl room.

Besides promoting couch potato syndrome (yes, I made that up), GreenPacket also has a gym to promote healthy living and making sure their employees are fit top to toe. In their bathrooms on that floor, there’s not only the shower but a sauna room too. And while I was in there, I noticed they did it up almost like a hotel room’s bathroom – nice. Though what’s missing is the hot gym instructor. :P

The last shot of the darkness is really their auditorium which can house upto 100 attendees. Sadly, we couldn’t find the light switch that day so I don’t have a wide shot of the space.

In conclusion, change in the Malaysia working environment I’ve seen thus far with my own pair of eyes is really comforting. Not because employees now have more benefits but Malaysia companies are starting to understand and appreciate its employees deeper.

If I had to name one thing missing from this working environment, it’d be the swimming pool. LOL! Or, in Google they’ve got their own wave pool for only 1 person.

What else would you recommend Malaysia companies to add to their working environment?

  1. Still way too far from the maximum speed that WiMAX can offer. 2.4mbps vs 70mbps. Do you know how much we need to pay for the service?

  2. Neo:
Give chics a massage or chics giving the massage? I’ll settle for either. LOL! :P

    Horizon:
From what I know, I don’t think we use the maximum right?
