How Much Will The New Maybank2u Lose?

Updated October 17, 2008 @ 4:19PM:
Guys, David told me I can login via the Classic version now.

Though there were good times of attending the new Maybank2u sneak preview, I’m beginning to worry about their website now – I’m very worried.

Despite it not being the end of the world, I’ve always used Maybank2u for a number of important online tasks; fund transfers and mobile topup. All of this is being done online because I don’t want to have to force myself to visit a 7-Eleven to get my topup or go to the ATM (which breaks down often) nearby. My tasks are so common it makes me now ponder; how much online transactions is Maybank2u losing right now due to their heavy load?

They’ve already realized this challenge but are still working on it. Already I’m thinking; how long more will they need to get a solution? Or, was there (ever) a planned fallback solution?

One of the things I’ve learned working with very large projects is you’ll always need IF personas. What IF there were more subscribers than we thought? What IF one of our servers fell? Or worst, what IF it isn’t our bandwidth or the server? *dramatic music plays*

Thankfully, my personal account is working alright (though at turtle speed) because its profile was recognized during the sneak preview. As for the company (Simpleet), we’re stuck in a rut and I’ve to pay my client’s domains before they expire. Which is why I’m hoping (and praying) the M2U team had those IF personas in place and they realize each passing day, complaints are going to mount by the thousands soon.

P.S: You know what I only realized after browsing around for more than 10-15 minutes, my topups are now in Buy Online. And, the request a TAC is at Step 1 therefore if you skipped it and progressed forward you’ll have to restart the process (it’s faster than going back). I’ve a feeling the new Maybank2u may want to include a quick guide for their new website.

P.P.S: I’m hating the AJAX loader which doesn’t permit me to cancel my click request after I realized I clicked on the wrong button. And due to the sluggishness right now, AJAX is not helping.

  1. The site is pretty slow right now. But then again, nothing is prefect at first try. Let’s just hope they solve the problem soon.

Thanks for that. Though I managed to pull out at least 1 important transaction before I gave up – credit topup. :P

LOL! I guess the quick guide would generally have helped, if they had one.

We love the old because it was fast loading. Their biggest problem wasn’t the inside but the outside when we could never really find the information we wanted by browsing.

  4. they didnt do a test run ke?

kinda looks like it. i mean, they had the link there, but looks like it was pretty useless cause it’s as if they didnt learn anything at all.
