P1 Team Fixes and Enhances Malaysia Wimax Coverage Map

Few weeks ago, I received my promotional code for a 6-months free subscription of P1 Wimax. This was when I last visited the P1 Wimax booth at the third-leg of the PC Fair – along with the PC Fair booth babes. Naturally, first thing I wanted to know was if my area was covered. Plus, … Read more

Packet One (P1) Networks Rewards LowYat Members With FREE Wimax

Now here’s a company who’s really broadening their listening. Not only from their friends or bloggers, but even the members of the LowYat forum! Recently I was surprised by the fact there is now an official P1 Wimax members in the forums; Lowyat_P1W1MAX. But the coolest part, introduction wasn’t done with a normal greeting.

PacketOne (P1) Networks is offering FREE 6-months subscription to 50 LowYat members. Talk about making an entrance online. But I’m unhappy – I don’t have Wimax coverage in my area though their office is less than 15 minutes away from me. T_T

Open Floor Discussion With PacketOne Staff

During my recent visit to GreenPacket’s office for their special tour, a group of us with selected key staff from PacketOne Networks (P1, for short) had an open floor discussion. The discussion was to openly share what we thought of the Internet in Malaysia, its offerings and our expectation from P1.

The moment I heard this, I knew finally here’s a Malaysia ISP who really wants to make a difference. And if you know me well enough, this is a difference I’d support without second thoughts. Simple, because Malaysia has a large pool of talent but they’ve been mistreated, misunderstood and under appreciated. Don’t you want to put a stop to this?

Malaysia Companies Are Improving Work Environments

Being the co-founder of a registered Malaysia website design company; Simpleet, I’ve to do some research on local working environments. But not to worry, because I also know about the awesome-ness of the Google office work environments. Plus, I’m seeing more companies now realizing and adopting the need for an enjoyable work environment for their employees.

One company I’ve been given the chance to experience this, the new GreenPacket headquarters located beside the Federal Highway. A little history of the building is its been there for a number of years rented out to bear large advertisements. I know this because I’ve been residing in PJ all my life and I’ve passed it when I studied high school. So, let me show you how one Malaysia company has changed their work environment.

Death to Malaysia Internet Companies Thanks to Our Internet Connection

Even without having to stress about our problematic Internet connection here in Malaysia, any international or foreign expatriate living here would’ve realized our Internet connection is nothing compared to their home country.

Previously, someone from MDeC contacted me and asked my opinion of what could be limiting the potential of e-business in Malaysia. Educating Malaysia businesses on setting up Internet businesses is one but without reliable Internet connection, would you see a benefit of doing Internet business locally? Don’t even think about internationally if your Internet business is hosted in Malaysia.

Wimax Must Now Come To Petaling Jaya

I was reading InTech from The Star today and I found a news article to my joy. Not only was I thinking now Wimax have to come to Petaling Jaya, but the news benefits all ICT companies within Petaling Jaya. Why? It’s because Bandar Utama (and Mid Valley City) have been elevated to cybercentres. What this means for my website design and development company like Simpleet Solutions is:

MSC-status companies can now house their businesses at these locations.

Although we’ve not applied for an MSC application yet, it’s awesome to now be able to have our office closer to our homes. Rather than to pay for tolls, burn more petrol to reach Cyberjaya, patiently wait for the car in front to move while some other jack*ss squeezes his car into your lane and most importantly, to reach home for dinner on time.

MCMC Dooms The Malaysia High Speed Broadband Project

I personally feel the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has doomed Malaysia Internet users to kingdom come for broadband. Though I’ve heard the MCMC board are really knowledgeable and respected. But their recent decision of leaving the whole High Speed Broadband Project (HSBB) to TMNet for 7 years left me in disbelief of their abilities or observation on what’s happening to our Malaysia broadband state now.

I mean seriously, haven’t they ever heard of one if not thousands (or millions) of complaints the TMNet Streamyx users have voiced all over the Internet? In fact, there is even a Facebook group condemning the ISP and worst, their customer service. Plus, TMNet doesn’t even care if they’re losing 80% of the business online.

One of The Perks of Being a Blogger

One of the perks I love about being a blogger; special invites. Recently was invited to the P1 Malaysia Wimax official launch held in the Grand Ballroom at Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur. One word to describe its presentation; spectacular.

But before I go into details (and photos) about the launch, I’d like to make a quick shoutout; Wimax is now commercially available in Malaysia. Following behind P1, YTL e-solutions should be launching in West Malaysia today followed closely by Redtone (also in West Malaysia) and Asiaspace. So let’s talk monsters, Hannah Tan, Michael Lai and Datuk Shahziman Abu Mansor.

The Wimax Malaysia Rollout Race Begins

A Malaysian’s characteristic is procrastination. I, myself, admit as being a victim of procrastination too. Being in a procrastinating culture, we like the thrill and adrenaline of completing or delivering goals last minute. Same goes to the Malaysia Wimax rollout now as the authorized license holders are racing to meet the end of August deadline.

At first, there were 4 authorized Malaysia Wimax license holders; Green Packet Bhd, REDtone International Bhd, YTL E-Solutions Bhd and Asiaspace Dotcom Sdn Bhd. Now, we’ve only heard a lot of Packet One (P1) followed by YTL E-Solutions then REDtone. Can the Wimax license holders other than P1 meet the deadline? Can P1 easily scale-up not only to serve a few hundred customers but a few million?
