You’ve just thought of a brilliant name for a domain to use for your business or personal website. It’s easy to remember and simple for your clients or friends to recall back when they’ve nothing to do in front of their computer.

So you’ve headed over to your preferred domain regisrar service and keyed in the name. Your excitement suddenly disappears into cyberspace and your cheerful smile flips over to a huge frown with frustration. As you might’ve guessed it, your domain has been registered by someone else. Ain’t this a familiar scenario?

Referrals Equals Money

What I’ve learned from SitePoint is that though everyone wishes to earn a quick buck through referrals, everyone still wouldn’t mind accepting gifts instead of cold hard cash. As mentioned by Andrew, it’s not so much of paying the referral but cultivating the referrals for their help in your business.

When you approach a potential partner or affiliate, it’s not advisable to demand a commission if he/she hasn’t thought of it. Not only is it non-professional but the moment you ask for a commission directly, it’s as if you’re being really desperate for money.

WebSighting #8

It’s really been awhile since I had any interesting report from all my agents around. The last issue was WebSighting #7 dating back to August. I’ve been really busy and nothing out of the ordinary actually appeared before me on my screen.

However, the draught is about to meet some refreshing Bali rain. This latest review will blow away especially the Malaysian Tourism Board.

TextPattern for Dummies

Textpattern is one of the other famous publishing engines used by many around the world. The first time I heard about it, I got it mixed up with MovableType for some reason. I suppose it’s because it sounded close to TypePad. *shrug*

I’ve yet to try out Textpattern but have come across one blog that has a very in depth user experience of the publishing engine.

It’s interesting to find out once in a while statistics or data that would help you in your business. The female business doesn’t have to be cosmetics or accessories related because women of the world are changing and I think it might be the same for Malaysia.

Why you clicking on the Refresh button on the Project Petaling Street website? The update ain’t there yet. It’s right over here.

Yes, bring your blogger behind over here so you could have a look at the prototype that will be replacing the old look of the current Google theme. No more will you need to get used to that layout because we are going back into time when it was 2 columns.

Just that now, things are a little more organized and I dare say, better organized than it ever has been. So come on in!

Path of The Problogger – Content

This is the second episode of my slow series documenting the path of the problogger through my personal views. The first was about monetizing your blog via Google’s Adsense that you can find via Path of The Problogger – Adsense. As much as everyone wants to make ‘easy money’ via their blogs, the other part that powers the engine of the blog is the content.

In this chapter, I realize that content is a really general topic to be discussing on but because my power of copy isn’t as great as some, I decided to cover things like scheduled blogging, good content, original content, copy-n-paste content and others that come to my mind later.

Your Other Homepage

Technically when we say homepage, we actually mean the first page you see on your website. When we say your landing page, it’s actually refering to your other main pages or the top page of every sub-category/level.

For instance, if I had a button called Categories and when you click on it or place your mouse cursor over it, it drops down several other options. The Categories link when clicked on brings you to your landing page for that parent link.

Some people don’t have a landing page for their parent link because it doesn’t benefit their website. However, when some people do use their landing pages, some don’t use it beneficially.

Midvalley Bloggers Minutes

Added other bloggers who attended to the list.

I first came across the news of the bloggers gathering from the PPS Review website. Though Errolyn (the so-called more popular half) wasn’t attending, that didn’t deter me from wanting to meet other bloggers like Peter Tan who mentioned about the meeting in Last Call for Bloggers Meet.

Bloggers like Dustyhawk also helped to spread word of the gathering through his Midvalley Megamall Gathering post. Though the list of bloggers supposedly attending looked short, I think other bloggers dropped by for a short stop.
