Danny Foo Interviewed

I’d first like to thank DZOF from PPS Review for the opportunity given though there were several hands pushing me from the back during the Midvalley meetup to be interviewed. Other than me, DZOF had several different voices to add into the new episode of PPS Review.

DZOF approached this latest episode with lots of interviews with bloggers instead of reviewing blogs that ping PPS with Errolyn.

It’s weird yet good listening to your own voice because you’d know how bad, good, well, terrible you sound. And I must say, I think I sounded rather weird and like there was a slang trying to surface through the interview. So..so..weird. Maybe I need to try and find the time and start a podcast to contend with PPS Review. *roll eyes* Just kidding.

Anyway, it was really fun being interviewed and definetely a lot more laughs listening to what was being discussed around the meetup. There were just too many blogger groups to actually hop across one another and listen to them.

My topic was rather obvious being the discussion of the new PPS design. Though I could’ve discussed about my dream of dating a celebrity, I decided it’s best for people to hear it from the horse’s mouth why and how the new PPS design is suppose to better the current.

If you couldn’t catch the conversation clearly, here’s the script with me being DF and DZOF being DZ.

DZ: Okie, urm..hi, we have Danny Foo here.
DF: Hello!
DZ: Danny Foo I know because he was one of the guys trying to solve technical problems with the earlier podcasts.
DF: DZOF was really lousy with it..(I couldn’t help it.)
DZ: Thank Youuu!
DZ: Okie, Danny Foo..what did you write about this week?
DF: Mostly it was talking about PPS design and why I actually volunteered to help Aizuddin revamp his current design that actually follows the Google’s interface. (bah, gramatical error.)
DZ: So so by PPS, we’re actually talking about Project Petaling Street?
DF: Yes yes..
DZ: Which is the Blog-tal..
DZ: And it’s being redesigned at the moment?
DF: Yes yes..(couldn’t find other words.)
DZ: What was wrong with the old design?
DF: The old design alot of people said it was too cluttered. It didn’t work for what it was suppose to do. Although I could understand Aizuddin was trying to promote all its services but yet keep the goal of the website, that is to introduce every blogger into PPS.
DZ: Okie, how does the new design help you do that now?
DF: Okie.
DZ: I mean, what are the features and all?
DF: Okie. Before I actually even started with the new design, I needed to analyze what was the problem of PPS. And I actually did this the moment somebody suggested to help design PPS a new look for it. (beats me why I emphasized help really and argh! more grammatical errors.)
DF: And I found that the problem with PPS design is that it was concentrating so much on its pings..listings, it never really gave interest to any of its extra services like the released PPS Blog, the PPS Directory or even the PPS Wiki because they never understood what was it about.
SOUND EFFECTS: I know that’s why I ask you. That’s why..
DF: So the important thing of the..
DZ: Go on, it’s alright..astrayneous noise..typical.
DF: The important thing of the new design was that I..uh..I needed to promote the other PPS services that Aizuddin wanted to do. With that..That is why now their..the top bar navigation on top. And also because, announcements didn’t have enough priority too in the website, I gave it a bit of color. So people actually looked at there before they actually thought about looking at the listings available.
DZ: So how do you say it..urm..of how I see it from the new design, there’s a lot of white, there’s a lot of pastel-ly type colors. They are not rich type colors but very..friendly colors. So that was the intention design of it?
DF: Yes, that was the intention of it.
DZ: So you’re happy with it so far?
DF: Urm..I’ll be actually happier if it was image driven but because too many people are actually using PPS. So Aizuddin said that that is not possible cause later the bandwidth will just shoot up again..and..so I just have to follow Aizuddin’s advice.
DZ: In terms of what happens next, where is it now on the design stage?
DF: Currently, I’ve spoken to Aizuddin and he said that we need to create a prototype of the website so that he knows that it’ll work and how it’ll feel. Therefore, actually Chee Aun is helping me out..with the development side of it..and he just notified me that he’s going to have the prototype up by Monday which I’ll be hosting up on my website later on.
DZ: Alright, good. Thank you very much.
DF: Thank you, DZOF.

I admit I was very nervous on the microphone stuttering and making so many grammatical speaking mistakes I’m actually feeling so embarassed being heard. Sigh. Anyway, I hope everyone now understands what PPS is going through and I hope we all will work for the better of it.

Don’t just participate in the pings and introduce bloggers, help Aizuddin to maintain PPS.
