Share RSS Awareness Day

I want to say one thing before I start this post. The new Maxis commercial you see on the television; animated drawn on paper type objects, concept was from Common Craft. I wanted to say this out loud so everyone (hopefully) won’t be misled to believe it is an original concept. So back to RSS … Read more

What is Social Media Marketing?

You tell me. Seriously, I’ve heard of it murmured all over the place now. However, I don’t really know what is social media marketing (SMM) in detail, how it works and what are the results from it. As far as I know, social media marketing is about utilizing social networks or online applications (and communities) for marketing. That made sense, right?

For example; using social media networks like Facebook, MySpace and etc to spread word of your marketing campaign on a product or launch. From the online application view, it could be using tools like Digg or StumbleUpon and etc. The whole gist of it is using online channels to do Internet marketing. Even creating a self-promotional video and publishing it on YouTube is part of social media marketing.

Malaysia Conman Targets Malaysia Designers

Earlier today, some guy calling himself ‘Andrew’ called me posing as a client. He requested for the mobile number of graphic designers I knew; specifically freelance designers. The alibi he shared with me was he is working with an international company and his colleague (Madam Tan) passed him my number. Then, he told me the company wants to design catalogs and brochures. Even had the cheek to tell me they had a RM10,000 budget.

His reason of not being able to tell me the company name is in the past, someone from a large agency leaked their product idea out and it was copied. Carelessly believing his story, I passed him 3 mobile numbers of people I knew. Out of the 3 people, two run small graphic design companies. And he met with one of them.

Malaysia Web Accessibility Conference

Last week I attended the web accessibility conference organized by the National Council For the Blind Malaysia (NCBM). This was one conference I didn’t have to second think of attending. Simply because one of the invited speakers was from the World Wide Web Consortium; better known as W3C to us Malaysia web standardistas.

And her name was; Shawn Henry. She’s the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Outreach Coordinator at W3C. Besides her, I would also like to acknowledge Silatul Rahim from the Malaysian Association of the Blind (MAB). He demonstrated how blind users use a screen reader and…he is blind as well.

The Power of The Internet

toolsMy constant hiatus now should be blamed on my clients. They’re crazy, I tell you! But, thank you Arori for asking Simpleet to setup Full High Definition Club online. There are other clients I’d like to thank on behalf of Simpleet for their business but they’re still in the works. Albeit having crazy clients, we do it simple…we do it right. Thanks, Hawk.

Now; how many of you have realized how powerful is the Internet? Well, here’s my story of realization when I could have fixed my Panasonic air conditioner (AC) on my own – if I could. It all started when the machine started turning itself off. I started trying to fix it by turning the power on and off, resetting the remote, resetting the AC via remote, and…even used the Internet to find out what was wrong.

Adobe Flash Player for Apple iPhone in Malaysia

March 22, 2008 So much for good news, Adobe now says the iPhone SDK isn’t enough and they’re not able to build the Flash player for the iPhone without Apple’s full cooperation; limited access to certain iPhone secrets. Hmm…something is up here. The wait has been too long for myself as a web designer. And … Read more

Cheating Maxis Hotlink Sales Executive Personnel

Hotlink Scam PersonnelI might not have the time to blog about web design articles at the moment. But I want to tell about the cheating Maxis Hotlink sales executive personnel working in Sunway Pyramid. Two days ago, I was there to catch the movie screening of Ah Long Pte Ltd. While my girlfriend was working, she asked me to help her go top up her Hotlink mobile.

This was when I met the loser who’s aim was to only literally suck any amount of money he could lay his crummy hands on; fat b*stard. And the only main reason I bought from him is because the whole store was branded; Hotlink. In other words, I took the shop as an official Hotlink shop or representative for the multi-national company under Maxis Malaysia. And what did I get, a lying cheating sales executive representing Maxis Hotlink story to tell you.
