Cheating Maxis Hotlink Sales Executive Personnel

Hotlink Scam PersonnelI might not have the time to blog about web design articles at the moment. But I want to tell about the cheating Maxis Hotlink sales executive personnel working in Sunway Pyramid. Two days ago, I was there to catch the movie screening of Ah Long Pte Ltd. While my girlfriend was working, she asked me to help her go top up her Hotlink mobile.

This was when I met the loser who’s aim was to only literally suck any amount of money he could lay his crummy hands on; fat b*stard. And the only main reason I bought from him is because the whole store was branded; Hotlink. In other words, I took the shop as an official Hotlink shop or representative for the multi-national company under Maxis Malaysia. And what did I get, a lying cheating sales executive representing Maxis Hotlink story to tell you.

So I told the guy I’d like to topup Hotlink RM30. And, here the scam ordeal started. The guy told me to hand him RM30 and what he did was whip out his mobile. At that moment, I knew the fat b*stard was basically going to transfer the credit to my girlfriend’s phone. My mistake here, I didn’t bring her phone along with me and wouldn’t know if the credit transfer message came in. Which is the only proof if the credit has been transfered.

So I had to leave and go get it then return to the scene of the crime. After grabbing her phone, as I was walking back to the ‘official’ Hotlink shop I checked what was the credit in my girlfriend’s phone. I don’t remember the exact figures but it clearly displayed RM6x.xx – should be RM9x.xx after the RM30 transfer.

As I arrived back to face the fat b*stard, I told him the message still hasn’t arrived. He questioned me as though I was trying to cheat him or something. And asked me how much I had on my phone, I clearly told him I had about RM60+ in the phone – which is the truth. At this point, he held both his mobile and my girlfriend’s mobile trying to troubleshoot the problem.

After fiddling with both phones facing him, I could only see his fingers typing on the keypad. Later, another customer came by interested to buy a mobile so he passed me back the mobile and serviced them first. While he did that, the credit transfer came in so I checked my girlfriend’s mobile credit. This was the giveaway of the scam…

It showed the phone still only had a mere RM6x.xx in it!

F*cking hell! Even a 12-year-old kid would realize he’s been scammed. I asked the guy in a polite manner asking him why is the credit still RM6x.xx (after the credit transfer). All he could say is the classic, “I don’t know…and it was like that”. When I demanded another explanation, he tried lying his fat *ss off by telling me he couldn’t scam me because he was facing me. And again, I say even a 12-year-old would know it was a scam and could have produced a better excuse.

I didn’t want to entertain this cheating Maxis Hotlink sales executive personnel working in Sunway Pyramid. I just walked off and in my mind know bad deeds don’t go unpunished – I believe in karma.

Thus, if you’re in Sunway Pyramid and need to topup your mobile…watch out for the cheating Maxis Hotlink sales executive personnel working in Sunway Pyramid.

P.S: I’d like to welcome Timothy to the Websites Made Simple family. His unprecedented knowledge of the iPhone and as a user himself, brings new life to the Apple iPhone in Malaysia series. So, go easy on him guys! :)

  1. Thats too bad.. You end up losing RM30 to this scammers. I’ve lost only RM10 in Prangin Mall, Penang using the same method. I know how you feel, it is 3 times how I felt that day..

  2. Gosh… Daylight robbery? These salesmen just don’t know when to quit, do they? But yeah, you WERE at a disadvantage there without solid evidence, Danny. I guess it’s a bitter experience with no justice served in the ending? I’d have lashed out at him even without any supporting proof anyways, so I have to say you did handle the scenario just fine, mate.

P.S. Thanks for the welcome, man. Glad to be part of the family. By the way, are you trying to hint something with the ‘going easy on me’ line? :P

  3. That’s one of the reasons why I don’t go for Easy Topup. Scared of being cheated as the credit transfer doesn’t come in immediately. I prefer online topup via CIMB Clicks.

  4. Will:
I did think of it. Plus, the b*stard’s picture. But I’m targeting him in person because it’s this person which affects the brand.

    Reena:
My maths goofed up. But I did lose RM30 which is the amount I paid.

And I’ve edited your comment to reflect the changes too. :)

    Timothy:
It’ll be a waste of breath. Plus, he might lose 2 times or 3 times more in future. Bwhahahhahaa…

    OWA:
Well, my girlfriend rarely uses Maybank to topup her phone. I know I use it more than ever buying from any vendor unless I have to.

  5. Hmmm…interesting, I’d demand a refund in this case. After all it’s your right to do so..you could complain to the authorities if required.

Don’t know much about karma but are you expecting that guy to be cheated by another? Come on..where does this end?

  6. yes its rite, that now most method of top up is sending the top-up instructions from his phone. thats how its done now … paperless … called e-load

but the thing is now, u paid for something, have him to issue u a receipt … u are entitled to a receipt, now irregardless of the topup did came through or not, head over to a maxis center, have them to check if there was any incoming top up or not, if there is none, file a complain on the spot.

make sure the receipt is a formal receipt form them, not those Rm1.5 receipt book …

these mofos are bunch of low lifes …

  7. rockstar:
I could have but I’m pretty sure he would deny it and wouldn’t care less of it. As for the punishment, it can come in several forms and not necessarily the way it had happened. That’s the cool thing about karma. ROFL!

    earl ku:
If companies like Maxis really cared about how their service is being handled by others like fat b*stard, they’d be more observant on what’s happening on this blog right now. :P

Anyway, if RM30 makes him happy cause he thinks ‘cheating me in return’ is the best way to teach me a lesson then I suppose it’s how he was brought up.

  8. On the other hand, karma can be a double-edged sword here..

In this case you did not exercise your right in an attempt to stop this malpractice. This’d pave the way for the guy to to do more harm than good..doesn’t reflect good on you does it?

P.S. LATYC my friend but pls get rid of this “tidak apa” attitude..& do something.

  9. i would agree with rockstar, thing do not change by publishing somthing like this on ur blog – or by ranting …

they dont have a team of people which monitors complain by trolling blogs whole day long …

get the proofs needed and lodge a complain … a formal written complain …

    simply said …

  10. Well, I’m not sure if you guys noticed but I’ve actually kinda optimized the post to be related to scam, cheat, Maxis, Hotlink, sales, executive, and personnel. I went to this trouble to ensure if anyone has to decide on Maxis or if Maxis for that matter searched for the bad reviews of their service, they might come across this.

Blogs may not be mainstream media yet but they’re one heck of an effective communication tool which can affect brands, people, and even politics – so they say.

Anyway, I’ve written a report to FOMCA and will see what happens – if anything does. :)

  11. Man, that sucks. But good job on bogging about the incident; I’ll bring this up with my agency peeps and let Maxis know about this!

  12. suffian:
Much thanks…if it does move the big corporate name.

    starwalker:
I’m not surprised that some owners do have contact with gangsters. It’s quite common here in Malaysia. Though the smart ones run organized crimes than petty stuff.

    rockstar:
I’ll stick with my online banking method. :P
