WordPress Does Not Support Similar Widget in Multiple Sidebars

Blog layouts have changed from simple 2-column blog layouts into 3 or more columns. WordPress has had the option for you to select and configure the sidebar you choose since I can remember Kubrick. They’ve made it so easy for you to manage the sidebar with drag-and-drop functions they call widgets. But WordPress blog theme … Read more

Google Adsense Introduces Expandable Advertisements

Not to worry. The expandable advertisements are unlike the irritatable (or, annoying) hover type link text advertisements. Google has always been friendly and it continues to do so. Even with the introduction of expandable advertisements. So, how only will the ad expand? Ads will expand only after a user clicks and interacts with the ad. … Read more

40 Screenshot Reasons To Choose WordPress 2.7

wordpress logoWordPress 2.7, codenamed; Coltrane, is finally a worthy upgrade compared to WordPress 2.6. It feels like how Adobe recently rewrote Adobe Flash to include Inverse Kinematics (IK). The entire user experience has been improved thanks to its new information architecture and accepted comments (and suggestions) to further improve WordPress by the community.

I’ve installed WordPress 2.7 (Coltrane) on a prototype blog I’m still working on. Right after the upgrade, the aura omitting from the new user interface is simple and easy. It sounds contradictory but sometimes simple layouts aren’t made easy when it’s content isn’t defined clear enough. But not with WordPress 2.7. And, I’ve 40 screenshots to prove why I’d choose to use Coltrane.

WordPress 2.9 Features You Definintely Want

Maybe WordPress 2.9 started on the wrong foot with the weird CURLPROTO_FILE bug. But after watching the introductory video of Carmen (WordPress 2.9) I’ve decided to not think about the bug at all. When Is a Blog a Blog?

websites made simple blogAt first it was, a blog is a personal journal or space for anyone driven by writing to release their tension or thoughts to the world. But today, because blog publishing engines are crossing the gap between a blog publishing engine and a Content Management System (CMS) by itself…where do we draw the line?

It’s about being able to fit the kitchen sink inside the fridge and the fridge inside your website space. That is the number one reason why many systems become over cluttered in the end but I’ll save that for another time.

RSS Not End-User Friendly

If you’re a blogger or Internet-savvy user, you might have heard of RSS or better known as Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication. Site summary does give a clue on its own but coupling that with the word Rich in front, it’s a whole new jargon in the IT world.

So what exactly is Rich Site Summary about? Well, if you ask any technical person or blogger, they might mention more jargon like XML and how it’s a technology used to pull headlines and other content on the Internet.

In layman, RSS is the ability to access or keep track of vast amounts of content easily.

Using WordPress 2.1

At 1100 hours ago, WordPress recently released it’s awaited major update. Such news as usual spread like wild fire and every blogger on the Earth must have been beating each other to the punch. Some Malaysia bloggers were also talking about what were the affects after their WordPress 2.1 update.

Ever since I converted from being a MovableType user, I’ve never looked back because of 2 lovely things about WordPress. Its installation is a breeze and its upgrading is just one-click away (I’m dead serious!). But WordPress also brought many other joys from the user-friendly interface to the various plugins found online – especially anti-spam plugins.

No More Project Petaling Street

What would happen to you and your blog if Project Petaling Street cease to exist at the end of this month, in the coming months or at the end of the year? Will you be disappointed that now you can’t reach out to the mass Malaysia market or will you feel frustrated because now you don’t have another local avenue to share your blogging thoughts?

When I first knew about Project Petaling Street (PPS) around 3-5 years ago (yes, I’ve been blogging that long) it was but a humble place for new bloggers to gain exposure and add value if not quality blog entries to PPS. Back then, I remember there weren’t any bloggers turn celebrities but mere writers or teenagers who pen they wanted to share with the blogosphere.
