What would happen to you and your blog if Project Petaling Street cease to exist at the end of this month, in the coming months or at the end of the year? Will you be disappointed that now you can’t reach out to the mass Malaysia market or will you feel frustrated because now you don’t have another local avenue to share your blogging thoughts?
When I first knew about Project Petaling Street (PPS) around 3-5 years ago (yes, I’ve been blogging that long) it was but a humble place for new bloggers to gain exposure and add value if not quality blog entries to PPS. Back then, I remember there weren’t any bloggers turn celebrities but mere writers or teenagers who pen they wanted to share with the blogosphere.
Minishorts churned out strong but humorous entries, Kenny Sia was sharing how he turns negative scenarios into positively humorous things in his life, Sixth the Seal too was but a blogger who just needed space to release his work and life opinions and I could go on for quite awhile about the history of some bloggers along with myself who was just but a personal blog.
All fame, fortune, and ambassador-ing never existed but it’s different now. The goal of bloggers on PPS is to gain recognition instead of exposure. Their aim is to achieve celebrity status instead of being but a blogger other bloggers look upon as a respected writer or professional in their field. The ultimatum of bloggers now is to create a side income via Adsense. Oh, how the blogosphere has changed.
Coming back from the reminiscence, so what if Project Petaling Street was no more? Or what if you’ve decided PPS can’t suffice the demand of attention your blog needs? What is your next plan? Or do you even have the next plan?
Well, here are other services you could think of doing the same thing you are on PPS:
Other than the above, you can find a whole lot of other similar services. However, it should suit your blogging strategy or plan. Or if you feel up to the challenge, you could try Search Engine Optimization and get up the search engines. It’s not easy and it’s take time to implement and test so find the right keywords and etc for your website or blog. But that’s a whole other topic.
So think about it, is PPS still right for you? Is it giving you enough?
p/s: I’d also like to open the floor for suggestions on what to blog on next. So what would you like to know about website design, website strategy, blog design, blog development or others?

I wouldn’t worry too much if PPS was no more. Other service will take the reign and life goes on.
What PPS has is a head start but there’s lack of uniqueness in their offering, at least not enough to differentiate itself from other similar services.
hey there,
i am a PPS newbie but i really like it cos i get to meet other msian bloggers and it’s nice to share and reach out, although i got here via sarawho :D
i guess everyone has different motivations for everything they do: some blog for fame, some for themselves, some for others.
:D
my blog was around long before PPS, which only surfaced circa 2005, methinks. so i don’t think it’d be a problem. i guess we used to survive on other people’s links/recommendations, blogrings… and the blogsphere was a peaceful place, no? ^_^
Gaman, I totally agree with you. Right now PPS is left in the shadows of Web 2.0 and it doesn’t look like it’ll be advancing anymore.
Freelunch, I only just found out about SaraWho not too long ago and you’ll be finding me pinging there now. :)
Midnite, good to see you over here. ;) Well, it was a peaceful and quiet space that time.
What do you think are the expectations of an aggregator service now?
