Floating Hints

Technically, I have no idea what they’re called exactly. However, I do recognize them as floating hints and probably tooltips. If you haven’t seen what they look like, then you probably haven’t visited Edrei’s Footsteps in the Mirror blog.

What I like about these things is they are a great help for those who are too worried of clicking on some links. There have been surveys done where a user asks, if I clicked or submitted my information then how am I suppose to know where would it go? In comes the solution..DOM tooltips.

Planet MY (Malaysia) Review

In the local scene today there are a number of emerging networks, aggregators, blogs and ever growing number of authors who are aiming to steal the limelight from the more popular. Nowadays if you’d like to have a popular face in the tech section of the newspapers, just start a blog and make sure you spam them to visit your weblog.

Nah, just kidding. You might be able to pull it off but I’m not supporting it. The best method for these authors who want their websites to reach an average of 100,000 views or unique visits per day need to invest their time in alternate methods. Such as submitting and joining to aggregators or networks that constitute to Web 2.0 – supposedly people empowered.

Malaysia Blog Website Review

I was invited to join the Malaysia Blog website and was expecting something different from what’s already existing today. But even on the first visit, I was disappointed with not only the lack of interest in providing it a website design but the goal of its existence too.

It took a scroll down to finally give me the message that this website is one of those blog ranking or website ranking networks. The ranking system is made by averaging the views or visits to your website/blog that is being tracked by Malaysia Blog and also the rating you might get from supporters.

How to Write a Contract

After slavering the whole day away on a contract for clients to sign on the dotted line, thank goodness I’m not a lawyer or I never studied law. I could imagine myself going mad reading all those law books and becoming a Jim Carrey instead of a Morgan Freeman in court. Okie, maybe using actors wasn’t a good idea but you get the idea.

The whole day I was Googling for designer contracts to have a guide of writing my own legal document for clients. As you know, because it’s a legal document you need to have it formal and there isn’t much allowed freedom like creating a creative brief or writing a client proposal.

How to Choose a Business Name

Will Swayne is a sales lead generation specialist and principal of Australian Internet consulting firm Marketing Results. I actually hopped on over to his website from Yaro’s Entrepreneur’s Journey after finally finding time to catch up on several of missed posts.

In Will’s article, I loved how he kept things short and simple. He explained one of the major differences of having a quirky or functional name for a business. I can’t agree more with him.

How to Reply Hate Mail?

As much as hate mail generally symbolizes someone out there hating you, there are advantages and disadvantages of receiving hate mail. The great advantages or benefits you could say is that there’s someone who’s taken an interest to what you do. The other huge benefit that some hate mail give you is the excuse to break away from work awhile and have a relieving laugh.

The disadvantages of hate mail is knowing that someone really hates you. I don’t like people hating me, especially when there’s no real reason to it. The other thing about hate mail is that the writers don’t give you a chance to reply to them personally and because of that you’ll have to try and communicate with them by other means.

So is this hate mail an advantage or disadvantage?

Amazon Advertisement Improvement

As I was administering some of the posts over at Blogs Malaysia and leaving comments to what I thought of them, I came across one blog that had several book covers that I assumed were Amazon links.

Upon rolling over them, I was definetely greeted by an Amazon advertisement or recommendation but I’ve noticed that Amazon finally has done something to help their affiliate program members.

Introducing dPolls, an AJAX based poll that you could create for free. When you’d like to create a poll, you need to register a free account and verify the email address you’ve used in the registration. Once that’s done and verified, you’re on your way of creating your poll very easily.

Blogs Malaysia

It’s been a very quiet blog new year and it’s good seeing not that many flame wars being thrown around. Most of them nowadays are the stale fights with common bloggers. I suppose that’s a sign of a good year ahead.

But even the new year has some things in store for all of us. Like Blogs Malaysia when it first launched last year, generated much hype but towards the end of the year it faded away like old news. Have bloggers lost their interest or is it that every one is still hung over from their new year party.
