Passionate for Knowledge

I just finished reading the Creating Passionate Users blog and their new article, The hi-res user experience is something that explains the confusion of why our passion helps us aim to be better in our work.

People are not passionate about things they know nothing about. They may be interested. They may spend money. But without the enhanced skill and knowledge that adds resolution, there is no real passion.

This just hits right on the money about myself and my passion for website design.

How Effective are Long Sales Letters?

From the research while surfing and using Google to search, I’ve found out that most people admit long sales letter reeling in more business than short, straight to the point stuff. This just baffles me from all sides to who really spends more than 10 minutes actually reading a letter trying to get you to buy their product.

Well, I hope to share with you my research findings and together we’ll sniff out the clues of getting a more concrete answer on why more business comes from a long sales letter.

Malaysian Website Designers Soon Extinct

Every day I’ll run through the employment opportunities section of the papers to see the demand of designers or programmers in the market. I’ve noticed very few advertise these jobs in the printed media anymore. Most of these jobs are likely to be found on Jobstreet or probably the newer Jobs and More website.

While I was walking today, it came to my attention that most employers are requesting for graphic designer with skills of being able to create website or ‘web page designs’.

Why do corporate websites not have advertisements?

A group of us had a small get together and started discussing about the future of online advertising. It’s great how Google has monopolized the online market and considerably push the opportunities you could get from online advertising.

While discussing about the types of advertisers that now exist from the Adsense type model to the ones like Chitika, we also started debating and questioning each other why we think not all corporate websites have hosted advertisements on their websites.

After all, it would make a lot of extra income for them, right?

UX Magazine

Imagine what does UX mean.

If you’re somewhere close to thinking ‘User Xomething’ then you’re closer than what I thought of at first. The term UX means User Experience, which is real catchy in my opinion. They’re suppose to be a magazine and I really did wish we had something offline like this. However, they’re an online publication and you’ll need to visit UX Magazine’s website to read the articles.

But she sure is a ‘beaut’ presented by agent CSSBeauty.

What is a Design Mockup?

The word mockup is uncommon to most Malaysians who half the time are selfishly doing their own thing at the top while the smarter ones try to learn about it. But to make the selfish even worst, they try to be smart and act as if they know what it is.

It’s lying, impolite, rude, and unprofessional. These people take advantage of it due to their higher level and power to hide a weakness. As much as I’d like to be talking about some of these Malaysian clients, let me clear the fog of the meaning; design mockup.

Setting a Quota

My abscence from 8th December until 18th December was because of my return to Melbourne for my convocation or graduation ceremony. Like my Dad said, “You’re now officially an unemployed person.” It’s quite funny really. But since I’m working on my own now, I suppose I’m trying to be an entrepreneur at the moment.

Before I left, I made sure to inform all my clients or their assistants that I will not be available during my overseas trip. I left with a huge relief because not having a mobile computer allowed me to pass the excuse that I couldn’t bring my work with me. After packing, I made a list of projects I was managing and I think it might be a little too many.

The Aims and Goal of a Project

Every time before I start on a project, I’ve noticed that I need to help or remind clients about what their aim(s) and goal(s) are for their project. The only difference between the aim and goal is that one of it is the results they’d like achieved when the project is done.

If a client has got a ton of aims with many more ideas to strengthen the aim, it would still be a waste of time for you because you’ll be catering for something without thinking of a solution in achieving the goal.

Simple Emotions

When a website produces simple emotions of relaxation and satisfaction, you know the designer has got a winner on his hands. In Mike’s case, he’s turned Emotions Live into a very beautiful and easy portfolio website.

Other than the attractive checkered stocking pair of legs, his work is really something when you’re short of inspiration.
