P1 Website Upgrade Due to Customer Feedback

Remember how I was saying PacketOne (P1) wants to listen to customer feedback about their Wimax service in Malaysia? Well, their website upgrade proved to me they also listen to feedback on their website. I know this because I heavily recommended a number of things to their website manager during their P1 open floor discussion.

I’m also really happy about the upgrade because they’re not a company who listens and not do. This is the type of business culture many Malaysia companies don’t want to adapt. They don’t because they’re in fear of their bosses requests and because, they practically don’t want more work to do – though it helps them in the long term. But let me show you how the P1 website has been improved after the upgrade.

PacketOne’s website has never looked better after the facelift. It’ll be common to hear how boring and most likely un-interactive is the new website. But what should really matter is if the content was findable – in their own website. Their previous website was completely in Flash and though interesting, it was more difficult to navigate – not to mention inaccessible to disabled users like the blind. Well, that’s changing right here.

Now, the moment you land on their homepage, menus are easy to locate and it’s consistent. The part I’m not fond of is the text link color on the menu bar. Its contrast isn’t enough for all users. Probably they could’ve consistently maintained the black (or dark grey) used on the main menu. And though it’s suppose to be consistent, the menu bar is really tied to the main menu. For example; if you clicked on Support, the sub menus are more relevant to the Support menu.

P1 wimax coverage

On their Wimax covergae page, they’re still having the grey not contrasting enough situation. And the jump menu design has made it look like a field I can type in rather than a dropdown. A quick fix is to make a darker grey border surrounding the jump menu. Also, don’t be misled in believing the image on the right is only an image. It really is a quick navigator to locate their Wimax coverage areas. I won’t be surprised some of us might have overlook this because they don’t like physical buttons. Well, now you know. :)

P1 wimax packages

I’m really glad they illustrated the packages again for this. Previously, the long table and unclear segment between personal and business made it a little challenging to focus. Not to mention, the black text wasn’t contrast enough on green and orange. They might not realize this but they could actually get users to sign-up for a package right away. Especially, with the ‘pay nothing now for the P1 wimax modem’ promotion. All they need is a short desciption and button on the left – above/on the modem.

p1 wimax subscribe

This is one page I’d heavily reconsider my options. And, it’s the most important page in the whole P1 website because it’s where instant business happens. Said that, I’m not pleased to know when I click Subscribe Now I’ve to decide between 5 buttons telling me how can I register. What I’d recommend here is putting the form upfront (left portion) and use the right portion for additional details; reseller information, contact P1, FAQ and etc.

P1 wimax lightbox

I applaud teir effort to educate users via their website on what’s Wimax about. Plus, I’d never expect them to use lightbox. And speaking of technicalities, they should consider making a button’s clickable area larger – not just the round grey arrow.

P1 wimax support

This is one of the better support areas I’ve seen a Malaysia company have in their website. Straight away I’d be able to locate the best solution for me on how I’d like to solve my problem. The one suggestion I’d add to this page is have a search incorporated. We’re used to using search today, it’d be more optimal for us to look for our solution on our own before we actually needed to consult the options you’re giving us. I hope that made sense. :P

P1 wimax website announcement

Remember how I used to say never put an under construction page and place something more beneficial? Well, P1’s team definitely understood this because though they don’t have announcements it reads:

Things are quiet now, so why you spice up your life with P1 W1MAX now? Start by reading our P1 W1MAX overview page to begin your journey.

This is good, but it’s still not great. Why not offer users to watch your online campaign videos instead? Or, create a new unique twist; spy on P1’s team. LOL!

Overall, I’m now a believer PacketOne (P1) has what it takes to go further. As long they keep listening and improving based on feedback, than to ignore and stay in the 90s era. ;)
