My Favourite Computer Game of All Time

While Timothy and Ming (Nuffnang co-founders) may know how to speak Jafaikan, I betcha there’s one language not them or many may know how to speak it. Simple reason; it can’t be spoken by tongue unless you’re not human. Introducing; 1337 speak.

Anyone figured out what it says? If you attended the Electronic Sports World Cup in Bandar Utama recently, pullout your free A5 notepad. There is a 1337 dictionary behind the front cover. I won my free 1337 A5 notepad from Multiplay. What I said was…

My favourite computer game of all time is now Team Fortress 2.

Counter-Strike is so old it even has it’s own Wikipedia to tell its history! My history of Counter-Strike (commonly abbreviated to CS) was from version Beta 5 or 6 back in high school. During the time, if you know CS you’re a celebrity but if you didn’t know CS you’re but a nerd. That is no lie – cake is a lie.

The one weapon everyone bought in the game (even if it killed them to save) was the AWP rifle. Known as the one true sniper rifle. It’s a massive gun packed with so much power, you’d be like Iron Man versus the tank!

And here is the best part, you can literally kill someone by shooting even their TOE! Yes, 1 shot to their pinky toe even and it delivered a damage of -1000 health points!

Here’s a quick requiem of my Malaysia CS history. Malaysia’s best CS clan was once NBTD (Nothing Better To Do) and another Penang clan with the brothers; Keigo and Masaki – I think. At the time, whichever team had the better sniper won. NBTD had Sugizo and Penang had Keigo. The better sniper wasn’t only one with accuracy and speed but the ability to jump and snipe in mid-air. Soon after, newer clans like FMJ and Hybrid came about. Then, the first ever World Cyber Games (WCG) in Malaysia was hosted in Midvalley in 2001.

Electronic sports in Malaysia had long existed but was never properly recognized and supported. Today, potential CS gamers sit in front of their computers waiting for their online game to load.

Which is why, instead of sitting in front of your monitor during the WCG come see it and experience it yourself in Midvalley from 15 – 17 August. Plus, there’s something even better to do at the WCG this year. We get to shoot the crap out of the Nuffnang team in CS. Woohoo!

All thanks to Samsung! Bwahahhahaha!

ROFL! That’s the more complicated version I’d say. But if you read enough MegaTokyo, you’ll love 1337 speak. ;)
