Scenic beauty and ambience is what I feel when browsing through United Kingdom’s Gemstone Home Improvements. It’s blood colored background with the essence of abstract expression along with it’s wood type surface of the interface gives the website a sense of satisfaction.
Just what the interior designer might have ordered in appreciation of his/her eye for artistry in solid objects.

Their website is elegantly simple and straight to the point of what they do and what they could offer. The web development firm, Rotea Design didn’t hold back of having ideas in bringing extra value and sense of appreciation for Gemstone’s portfolio.
You see snippets of wide angle but beautiful photos of some work Gemstone have done in the Flash banner. In the gallery though, you select between 2 examples and view more images from the popup gallery. Something I’m wondering why was it done this way? Why not just use a Flash gallery driven via XML? Hmm, maybe the budget wasn’t enough or this type of thing contributed to faster access to its gallery. Who knows.
Oh yeah, the thick yellowish line you see is due to the screen shot captured from IE. Beats me why it’s like that.
The text is very clear and Rotea’s ability to have only the content area in white without disrupting the color palette is a well achieved one.
For a corporate website like Gemstone Home Improvements of small (but not tiny) size, it would be just perfect in design, content and acceptance.
What do you think?
I agree with you that the website design is good. But I think that they are better website designer than doing home improvement business. The samples displayed are not quite impressive.
I’m not sure if there was a misunderstanding but Gemstones is a company on its own. The firm that helped them develop the website was Rotea. :)
But thanks for the comment as maybe my words were twisted somehow in that post. Sorry about that.
Cheers.
it look great, english design style.
it created a feeeling of old sch design where emphasize on feeling of english design.
I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I understand that Gemstone is a company doing home improvement business. What I was try to say is that their web design is very good, but the information (and images) on home improvement is too little. So, I said that they are doing better in web design than home improvement.
Sorry for my bad english.
Understood. Well, not afraid to practice English is a good way to learn as long its proper. :)
Cheers.
Wow, thanks for your kind comments :)
Glad to hear from you Ian. :)
