The Future of Blogging and Blog Design

yongfook thumbnailThough I’m in Penang at the moment, here’s something a friend of mine; Jonathan, stumbled on. It’s a blog by YongFook. The name indeed sounds Chinese, he’s a Eurasion born in United Kingdom and is currently working in Japan. And he’s a web producer.

So what’s all the fuss about this yongfook character? Well, he basically has realized how blogs eventually will evolve in the future. Mind you, I rarely feature a website or blog which drives me to a point of featuring it. And he’s basically paved the future of owning a personal space.

Yongfook or Jon’s blog is in short…

…a real-time flow of my activity across various websites, with the occasional blog post for nourishment.

…and he calls this; Lifestream.

Not only is the website beautifully designed presented in its simplistic form, it projects the Lifestream which Jon has visualized. And the more I read about Lifestream, the more I believe this may be the future of personal websites, if not blogs.

A personal space where all updates of our life will revolve around. One website, one blog, one YouTube, one Twitter and etc. All under one roof to share with everyone online. Basically, think of it as a large RSS reader turned into a website.

If you’re an adventurous nerd or geek, Jon has a guide on how to make your own Lifestream blog with Tumblr.

What do you think the future has for blogging or blog design?

  1. I think that Lifestream, as what he call it is a great design.. but most of the blogger doesn’t care much about the design.

They are producing content. But well, a blogger with a good content and a beautiful blog design will stand out more against those who doesn’t have both.

P/s: Danny, wanna have link exchange?

  2. I don’t know about that, Vincent. I believe they do care what their blogs look like otherwise many will be using the default templates they’ve been given. Besides, I think every blogger has a cycle from plain ol’ starting out to aiming high.

But I do agree, content is always first. :)

I’d be happy to do a link exchange except I’ve not allocated a place for it at the moment. Will remember to include one in my new personal theme.

  3. Ok, first off, I think he is so hot! LOL.

yeah, of course bloggers do care about how their blogs look like. You are right, Danny. However, not all bloggers care about that. I’ve seen blogs that are using the default templates. Well, I don’t think that matters much. as long as the blog is neat, easy to read, it’s fine by me.
I think lifestream is a brilliant idea. however, I have no intention to create one. well, at least, not for now.

  4. LOL! I figured the ladies would say that, Aisyah.

Well, I guess the importance of a theme will come somewhere in a blogger’s cycle.

  5. agree with aisyah.. he is so hot!!! :O :O :O

Brilliant idea there, and I do think at some point, bloggers will started adopting such style.

    ammu.

  6. I shouldn’t have put his picture there then. LOL! Spare the keyboard from your saliva.

Anyway, I assume some bloggers may adopt and some bloggers may still continue to write as they need a personal space to express themselves more.
