Agent CSSBeauty left a report in my inbox since I was MIA for quite awhile. There were quite a few potential websites on the list but I decided to just go with one. What’s the reason for it? Well, I’m not sure if it’s locally done but the brand just made me want to mention it. The brand is called; Idaman Suri.
The products being sold are instant recipes to be used in cooking. I used these lots of time but of a different brand when I was in Melbourne. It’s really that all you need is the meat, some extra stuff of your own and the base recipe. Thankfully lunch is coming up cause I’m getting hungry imagining chicken curry or something.
The website design hits very close to home for its theme. The moment I visited it, I just fell in love with the textured wallpaper. I’m telling you people, soon enough one of the website trends is going to be background with patterns. And I must admit, it ain’t easy to find an appropriate one. The pattern reminds me of a carpet but set in the Baba Nyonya era for some reason.
The product website maintains a simple information architecture with a touch of recipe goodness. Currently, there’s only 3 recipes written and I was hoping there’d be a longer list.
There’s a surprising FAQ page that answers questions if it’s ‘halal’ (edible by Muslims) and some questions which I’ve never thought of asking:
- The portion is too big, can it be reduced?
- Will the premix burn once it is stir fried?
- Yogurt is among the main ingredients, what are the alternatives for milk intolerance individual?
- If the gravy dries up, what should be done?
Other than promoting their products online, part of their marketing involves teaching their consumers the basics of cooking as well. :)
Oh yeah, I kinda like the slideshow on the sidebar too.
The only feedback I’d give them if I wanted to, would be a job well done and hope to see more recipes. Oh yeah, if you take a look at the feedback form it kinda makes you wonder. WordPress users might already experience a tingle from it. I know I did because other than the giveaway of the feedback form and the news section slightly hidden on the side, I’m wondering if this website is backed by WordPress.
Anyone care to take a gander at Idaman Suri? ;)
OMG… i clicked on ur CSSBeauty link and was shocked to see exabytes.com as a featured site… there’s totally nothing bout the site worth shouting about.. Irishtu.com was featured on stylegala.com quite a while back.. the rest of the “features” on CSSBeauty looks… as if they were running out of sites to feature…
I done some background research for the designer of Idaman Suri website and it was done by Maharis from http://mowformedia.com (still beta) .
Great use of CSS, brilliant flash menu navigation and great design (brilliant!).
hehe ..I just just found out ..Maharis is no other than gatoking (gatoking.com) view his profile here : http://www.w3csites.com/profile.asp?u=arigato
woo.. Gatoking. I know him. LoL! And wow, never knew he’s got some great webdesign skills. :) Kudos to him.
very nice and clean site,
never thought of putting project info into the CSS
btw, nifty thing you got going with the comment preview :)
hey danny! wow thanks! really appreciate this review :)
if ur ever in the damansara perdana neighbourhood, gimme a beep, drinks on me!! yum-cha!! hehe :D
oh n, its not running wordpress, it uses a very simple homemade (php) cms, which did suit its purpose cuz its only a few pages. easy to update. n yea, the client does want to expend their recipes later. they got some yummy recipes, gotta love em! :)
kindda wierd how it got showcased at cssbeauty, i’ve only added it to my w3csites.com profile a day before, next thing i know the webstats went berzerk! almost got a heart-attack when i found out that the referrers were mostly from cssbeauty and cssmania. it was crazy yo,… really heart-attack moment! made me smile all day long tho. lol.
funny oso cuz its simply a website about premix spices, n it was supposed to be a sub-website, never thought while doing it it would end up being showcased, cssbeauty of all places! wow! so yea i guess, the moral of the story, as long as we put passion into our designs, no matter what the website is about, big or small, good things can happen :)
@sukral:
hehe, wow u really dug thru to find out all that! dang thats some CSI skills man! lol.. ;D
n yup, my mowformedia.com is still beta, debugging mostly, ran into some learning curve to convert myself from a movabletype into a textpattern user. (txp is damn cool btw, php powered + simple tags + huge plugins + massive support network +++ its free!!, gotta love it!.)
again, thanks n cheers guys!!
lets go out party someday! merdeka is near, any plans?
:)
Hey Gato! Won’t mind you belanja-ing. LoL! You know you can get my contact on Doxob. ;)
Anyway, it’s a real big deal because not many around are building web standards compliant websites. Most of them are still in the Table age and not to mention, Flash-ing here and there. :P
Happy for you dropping by and hope to see more astounding w3csite approved stuff from you. Cheers.
@wantanseller:
The code is just some simple JScript I got of Scriptygoddess.com
