BlogsMalaysia.com Review

There’s a difference between the blog network like b5media and the just released, Blogs Malaysia network. As much as it might sound like a blogging network, it’s really taking the idea or concept behind and make it more interactive.

The Blogs Malaysia website is all about connecting bloggers together under one space by allowing them to share other worth entries they’ve found online and later debate on it. Confused yet?

Perhaps this explaination extracted from the About page might straighten out your thinking.

BlogsMalaysia.com seeks to meng-orgy-kan blog posts and various content available on the big bad Internet wolf – basically bits and pieces that you and I (and soon the rest of the world) find interesting enough to mention.

So whatever you have read and think is notable regarding anything and everything under the Malaysian and global sun, please do rekomen it here. Of course you would have to register to be a member before you can submit a post; it doesn’t take very long to register and it’s for the greater good. Really.

Sharing is caring mah. Apara pun boleh…

On that same page, you’ll also learn about the process your entries have to go through after you submit them to be posted at the website.

And the editors that you’ll need to charm or bribe or seduce before having your entries posted are:

The Blogs Malaysia design quite closely resembles CSSBeauty in my humble opinion. But I suppose it’s because of the cool blue hues being used. It might just be personal preference, but I’m wondering now if the columns would benefit more if there was a background color used. Or maybe the Latest Article entry titles should be a dark blue or black.

Overall, I like the design for its cleanliness and it’s the best designed local blogger’s network that I’ve seen. :)

Kudos to the Blogs Malaysia team.

And a reminder to anyone reading this, please make sure posts recommended are not yours but someone elses or it’ll never be published later.

  1. I wonder how different will BlogsMalaysia be from Petaling Street Project? I am not familiar with the later, but have heard about it.

Design wise – I agree, BM seems to be better than Tomorrow.sg. The grey hues of Tomorrow is rather depressing. Thank God for RSS.

Speaking of which, did you realise BM doesn’t offer an RSS feed?

  2. That blog celeb cliqing atmosphere freaks me out. Maybe I should observe how it goes before jumping into the pool.

  3. Razlan, Blogsmalaysia is similar to Tomorrow.sg, and both are fashioned after BoingBoing.net, while Petaling Street’s main attraction is that the latest pings are shown on its main page. And unless against the rules, any Tom Dick and Harry can just ping their blog at PPS.

  4. of course it is a blog network. blogsmalaysia is a metablog that talks primarily about blogs. it connects bloggers to more blogs (worth a mention)

how can you say it is not a blog network.

  5. Instead of ranting that it’s similar to tomorrow.sg or boingboing, doesn’t anyone look beyond the surface and understands the difference of the concept and process involved behind the surface.

Currently, what you all are saying is that the website looks like this person. what’s important like a person, is the qualities or attitude in them.

  6. lol Liew, save your breath explaining la. They dunno what is blog network. Yes it is exactly same like tomorrow.sg

  7. True, true, it’s very well designed. Although I wonder, is the concept of the site, a blog-version of Digg.com?

  8. Hmm.. I noticed you’re now on the editors list too. Congrats :o)

Some feedback though. Having ‘editors’ that approve submissions aren’t really democratic and transparent I’m afraid. That’s always been my beef with Tomorrow. Is there some way to make it more like Metafilter or Digg.com?

  9. I’m not really an editor but one of the members responsible in terms of design. I do check up on posts submitted time to time.

As for Digg.com, I’m not sure if the founders for BlogsMalaysia noticed it but I believe there’s a reason for them that they want to bear all responsibility of the posts.

Probably it’s just that some people are immature. *shrug*

  10. A malay + english site? They are limiting themselves for Malaysian. Anyhow, they are targeting Malaysians. :) Thumb up for the design.
