Pulau Ketam Malaysia Dog Rescue Mission

Humans can be very mean creatures – even, inhuman. The residents of Pulau Ketam had abandoned some 300 stray dogs on a deserted island. According to the rescue mission page on Malaysia Central, half of the number of dogs may have already turned into carcasses and probably are on it’s way no thanks to flesh eating maggots!

Here’s a video recorded by Donald (rescue team member) documenting the inhuman, painful, stressful and hurtful experience of a rescued dog; Grace.

This video was enough to tear my eyes and personally feel anger towards the humans who abandoned these dogs on the deserted island. Mind you, it was mentioned the Pulau Ketam residents did it for RM90 per dog. Even in an economical crisis, I agree with Donald we should probably send these “traders” to a deserted island.

If you’re an avid volunteer or animal activist, please spread the word of this inhuman act. If you love animals (not only dogs) or feel an ache in your heart right now, but are too far away, the Pulau Ketam rescue dog mission needs funds to:

  1. Keep the dogs alive (see video below).
  2. Hire a boat to travel to the island.

You can find out more about donating to the Pulau Ketam dog rescue team at Malaysia Central. And honestly, I’ve heard ofPulau Ketam to be a nice island holiday in Malaysia. But right now, I’d strongly boycott going there for a holiday – ever.

If you’re a blogger, please tell your readers about the Pulau Ketam Malaysia Dog Rescue Mission. You can also follow updates of the rescue too.

  1. The crab island is doing “crap” stuff. I can’t believe what they did to those dogs…. poor doggy…. :(

  2. Thanks for sharing.

I can’t believe they sent 300 dogs to that island too. That must have been very persistent more than cruel actually to spent a heck of sum of money for the logistic, working together for the manpower and a period of time to do gather 300 dogs and throw them on that island.

Think about how many men needed to move 300 dogs?
How many trips they have to make?
    How long will that takes?
How much will it cost for the afford in all?
the cost of sending the dog there is worth it?
We are talking about 300 dogs here right?

  3. What’s most painful is the injuries these dogs have to experience? So far, I’ve not heard authorities nabbing stray cats and putting them on a deserted island.

  4. Few months back while driving past Jusco at Seri Kembangan, I noticed a dead baby monkey on the road. The mother monkey was so sad and angry and each time a car passed by she would show her anger by raising her arms trying to beat the passing car. Could u feel her anger…. Just because we humans needs more houses, shops and etc… we are so evil till to destroy their homes (forest) yet we sit back and do nothing. THEY DO DESERVE A LIFE TO LIVE…… same goes to all the dogs in Pulau Ketam!! The devil still live no matter how much u pray to your GOD asking for forgiveness and mercy …yet you don’t show mercy to the dogs lives. SHAME on you PULAU KETAM RESIDENTS !!! The authorities are doing nothing to prosecute those involved, those who sent all the dogs to die. What can we do ??? PLEASE JOIN IN TO BOYCOTT PULAU KETAM RESIDENTS AND THEIR PRODUCTS!!! We are ashamed having these kind of malaysian citizen living in our country.
U should know: A BIG THANK YOU and a job WELL DONE in trying to rescue all the dogs in Pulau Ketam TO SPCA and Jabatan Perkhidmatan Veterinary, Malaysia and also your continuous effort to educate the low mentality residents of Pulau Ketam.
