More Than Simple Blogs II

This is the continuing discussion from More Than Simple Blogs that I posted earlier. The feedback gotten was almost as intense as the comments in Eyeris blog.

Commenters were pouring in their personal feelings how bloggers need not any gurus or probloggers to be their mentors. Well, as I said in my comment reply, my intention wasn’t to suggest every blogger to have a mentor but to have someone be your inspiration or role model. My apologies to those who might’ve misunderstood.

The Malaysian blogosphere might not have as many inspirational models around, but some of us are working towards it. As much diversity you could add into the blogosphere, there are those who still need guidance to make blogging work for them. Those who remain ignorant and arrogant about blogs that won’t change will become the audience of evolving technological times.

Comment left by Wingz from part one:

No pun intended but if you take a look at pps nowadays. Its fulla so call tech blog … why is this ? i think i no need to elaborate on this issue also we all know why la. A handfull of them are really good but the rest are merely a replica of “someone”

Why is it that more bloggers are trying to start a tech blog?

Well, the obvious reasons are because of its readership or visitor numbers, the revenue gain running a tech blog is supposedly more, the resource gained through various sources is never ending, and probably the arising trend.

The bloggers who just start a tech blog for the sake of those reasons above I believe are ignorant, except for some established probloggers. Real probloggers don’t merely start a blog, host ads and let it run. If you follow the models like Darren Rowse or even LiewCF, there’s a significant difference in their level of blogging expertise. These are bloggers who are turning their love for writing into a business.

Bloggers or blogs to me that are considered role models gain things like Venture Capital and your Blogging Business. If you still believe that blogs would never mature and evolve, sooner or later you’re going to think back later or tell yourself soothing excuses why you couldn’t make it if you wanted.

It’s still not too late and I don’t it ever will be too late to learn about blogging from the existing role models out there. I’m no role model to anyone out there but try to share what I know with everyone though it might not be new.

As we age, we are suppose to become wiser but age doesn’t necessarily determine your length of knowledge. Therefore, it isn’t a ‘guru’ that you need to teach you but an inspiration who’ll be able to guide you.

In the end, only you alone make the decision of becoming more than a simple blog or not.

So then for me, I choose to be just a simple blog lor. Can rite? Hehe. :P

  2. Because you were brave enough to say it out. It’s confidence like this that I’d like to see a bit more in people who believe the potential in our local services. :)
