Previously on March 19, 2007 I shared the news on how Maybank2u is organizing a web design contest for its new myzone website. Then recently, the Surf! magazine also had a maybank2u website review which reminded me I still had to come up with something for the maybank2u myzone contest.
I decided to start on my maybank2u myzone web design entry later because entries were accepted from 12 midnight on 16 March 2007 and ends at 12 midnight on 15 September 2007. During the 6 months, I would have definetely come up with something but I decided to sleep on it and let it flow in.
But the fact of the matter this moment is my observation of the maybank2u myzone website during the past months while I was doing my research. The website has undergone continuous cosmetic surgery towards every event or highlight. The current version is all about the Disney Channel My School Rocks dance competition with its stage lights and etc.
If I were to pinpoint one of the major flaws of the maybank2u myzone website is that it doesn’t have a button to go back to the homepage. It was the myzone logo on the top left but now that disappeared. Yes, it was there and now it’s gone because they are doing something weird to the website again.
The website now has folded corners revealing from what I can see could be submitted web design entries or a new facelift to the maybank2u myzone website…again. Sorry if I’m straying from the topic title but I couldn’t leave such a thing like this alone.
So while they played Houdini with the button leading back to the homepage, I’ve also noticed the button for the Terms and Conditions to the maybank2u myzone web design contest has disappeared now. If you need to refer back to it, I’ve got them at Maybank2u myzone Web Design Contest.
And to make matters worst, I recently found out they have a “hidden” exception in this contest.
Just for your information, participants may submit as many designs as they like within the contest period to increase the chances of winning. However, participant is eligible to win 1 main prize and 1 additional prize only as stated in clause 8 of the Terms and Conditions. Hence, you can always send more and more designs to increase your chances of winning!
What I personally dislike about this exception is how the judging may later be influenced by the number of entries a participant submits. Kinda like those the more you submit then the overall winner wins based on the number of entries.
Well, there are 5 days left and the submissions close this Saturday. As for my submission, the teaser is right there. I’ll post up the full design on the day of the deadline. May we have the best of luck in improving the Malaysia website standards.
Question of the day:
Are you or your friend participating in this contest? If No, why?
