Blog Metamorphosis

Like a caterpillar that hopes to one day become a beautiful butterfly, we carry on with our normal blogging life till we reach maturity. After that, we start pausing between blog posts and figured that our blogs need something different.

Hence came forth the need to find a niche for our blog. The niche is like the caterpillar trying to find a safe place for it to become the butterfly. However, unlike the caterpillar that rests inside its protective cage, we continue our blogging on the verge to become that beautiful object of desire.

As time passes by, our niche has slowly settled in and newer ideas come to mind. We would like to earn some free money from ads as well as earn fans that would admire our growth before becoming the butterfly.

Suddenly, the cage the caterpillar was in is gone. No longer is it hanging in its safe place. Where could it have gone?

Surprisingly, it had fallen to the ground but is still intact. Our life as a blogger or me as a freelance website designer is like that. We encounter obstacles and unavoided experiences like this. Sometimes these experiences pulls us down all the way to the ground. Some unlucky ones get eaten up by the higher members in the food chain where as some strive to survive or pray upon luck to save them.

So by chance, the caterpillar’s cage was not touched and soon it began to split open revealing a pair of beautiful wings. The caterpillar that became the butterfly soon started fluttering away into the plants. It started admiring itself in the reflection of a drop of water and thought it already was great.

Then behind it appeared a brightly colored insect. When the ex-caterpillar turned, he noticed that it was another butterfly with wings that were more colourful. So the ex-caterpilar set out to learn how he too could achieve colourful wings.

When we think we’re happy or proud of something, we might not know of what other beauty is out there because it never appeared right in front of us. Sometimes it takes initiation that lead to discovery of new grounds or knowledge we might have never known.

The blog is only but a personal journal in the first stages. But when it comes of age along with the author, the author will learn to understand the value he/she has to offer. However, we need to remind ourselves that what we have isn’t enough.

There’s always room for improvement and growth if we allow ourselves to see past the fog that clouds our minds at times. That’s why I believe being humble or calm might be the better method in handling hostile comments on the blog.

So as the blogger mature with their content and mind, they learn to evolve their blog into what they want to become. Their true nature or ideal goal start to appear. On the other hand, not necessarily does the goal drop in their hands at times so the blogger must be observant and realize change in themselves.

Blogging is like any project or like any life, you start somewhere and you grow older with more knowledge than you started. The learning points are whether or not you choose to accept and grab it, and then become the beautiful butterfly with age.

  1. Would You think blogging would turn into a fad just like that rubber wrist bands? Though blogging has been around for quite some time…

  2. When blogging first started, it was thought to be a fad. Then as the years passed on and the emergence of services like MovableType as well as Blogger, the blog crazed turned into something more than just a fad.

Itself has been taken for a spin and become a mature publishing system that some commercial bodies use to communicate with their customers as well as promote their company or products. :)

Blogging might be the high-end upgrade of the latest news normally offered on company’s websites except that a blog offers so much more.
