Whew! It’s been 4-5 days and Claire has been chasing my tail to get the project up and running as soon as possible. So basically she’s my excuse of not posting for quite awhile now. LoL!

But it’s finally out and it’s gone live. I’m still quite disappointed with the layout cause I know I could’ve done better somewhere somehow. But given the shortage in time and sudden change of the project concept a little, I suppose I should be happy it’s working. And I didn’t do it alone..thank goodness.
Together with me, I had Edrei from Kamigoroshi to help me with the plugins and certain layout troubles with WordPress.
The template codes follow closely to the Kubrick theme by Michael Heilemann at BinaryBonsai. It took a day or two to digest the coding and understanding the structure he used.
On the other hand, through the frustration of trying to find certain elements, I decided to re-code the whole template to my own understanding. It still follows the original closely but the method it’s been arranged I find it easier to look for things. :)
Ever since I decided to use WordPress for this small project, Edrei was on an all out, “..if you got any WordPress queries, just let me know.” I’d claim Edrei as a WordPress addict but the more appropriate rank local WordPress users use for him is a WordPress plugin addict.
His knowledge of the WordPress plugins is like it’s been written all over his arm while taking an exam. If you needed a suitable plugin for something, Edrei from Kamigoroshi would know roughly what you need in a few minutes.
The project was also suppose to have Claire of Minishorts on board but she’s informed me while multitasking several things at the computer, she is involved too much in projects like Blogs Malaysia and work.
So with only Edrei and me, I decided to bring another local blogger to help out on the project. SK of MageP’s Lab who resides in Penang started blogging this year. Though he might be new to the local blogosphere, his posts are an easy read which is good for me. LoL!
Currently, with only us 3 Musketeers, we’re going to try and make the Merdeka Blogger project a success. We’re going to start invading every local bloggers space and sniff out any Merdeka posts that have been posted.
That reminds me, I need to prepare mini banners or buttons for people who’d like to participate in this project.
As much as I’d like to explain about this project, it’s simple. If you’re a Malaysian, you’d understand and noticed that one of the traits being a Malaysian is that we’re a community with various languages. Not only that, other than always saying we’re a country managing to live in harmoney with different religious beliefs, don’t you feel that we managed to live in harmony with this many languages?
If you said yes, then why not sign-up at the Merdeka Blogger website and prepare that post for Merdeka Day.
Oh yeah, did I mention that plugged posts in the website will be getting free traffic later? ;)
broken link dude :)
Fixed. :)
i like the whole blog layout but i can’t say the same about the banner. even the one on minishorts.net looks so much better! any changes will be made?
there might be and there might not because part of the header helps gel the content column. but we’ll see what we can do. you can provide some suggestions too. :)
Cheers.
danny, i’m talking about the button that we can use to promote the site on our blog. the one eyeris put up on his blog…
the merdeka blogger project’s layout/template is so nice, i wouldn’t want you to change anything. simplicity is the best!
cheers!
Ohhhh, you meant the mini banner. Sorry, I mistook it as the normal sized banner. Anyway, yeah, I’ll try to come up with banner(s) today if possible.
Thanks for the compliment. :)
right….so how do we go about blogging??
not really sure about the whole process. heh.
Are you asking me how do you blog in general or how does the project work? Anyway, this comment will assume you’re asking how the project works.
Newly registered authors are suppose to prepare a post according to their language for Merdeka Day itself. This post will only be published on 31st August later. This is the official Merdeka Day post.
On the side, we have pre-merdeka posts which are posts that some bloggers have written before Merdeka Day. These bloggers though having been plugged on the project website are encouraged to prepare an official post later for Merdeka Day. Pre-Merdeka posts are either found by our team or you could email us your pre-merdeka article.
That makes sense..? :)
