There was one time I asked; What is social media marketing? I’ve not found out enough to be an expert yet. But what I’ve observed so far is many use online video sharing websites like YouTube, Vimeo and others as a social media marketing platform. A place where you can expect thousand of visitors sitting in front of their monitors watching Internet videos and commenting on them.
Have you seen any Malaysia company take advantage of YouTube? Or, Vimeo? Is it because it’s not really in our Malaysia culture to stare into our monitors to watch videos online? Or, is the video we are watching isn’t as entertaining as what we view in the television?
Not long ago this year, a friend of mine told me about the ‘No Pok’ video. When I asked him what was it, he was like “Dude, how can you not have seen it?!” Well, I don’t really go onto YouTube very often unless there has been a video talked about by a large number of people. Therefore, I guess the ‘No Pok’ wasn’t one of them.
Anyway, after I finished listening to the guy screaming at the mamak I noticed a related video called the Ramly burger song. Curiosity led me to a song which was about one of my favourite foods therefore it’s a video I mush share with you here.
Before the video ended, a friend of mine informed me some people stumbled onto the leaked commercials for P1 W1MAX. If it’s one thing we bloggers like, it’s leaked information irregardless of it’s contents. Simply say we Malaysians are also ‘kiasu’ (selfish) people. :P
I personally like ‘The Flasher’ because it’s bold and it’s out of the box. The whole concept may not be out of the box but at least Malaysia companies are taking advantage of pushing the limits with YouTube. However, I’m not too fond of the Hindustan commercial. I don’t know why but it gives me a sense of annoyance almost like this other commercial.
Maybe the story or humour doesn’t appeal to me like the ‘No Pok’ video. Therefore, wrapping up YouTube as a social media marketing platform I’d have to say it definitely is but you can’t cater to every viewer.
As you’ve read my comments, selected humour or stories only appealed to me and makes me want to either bookmark the video or share it with other friends. I believe with this I’ve uncovered an important answer. And, that is target and measure based on the right demographics.
What are the videos you’ve bookmarked and share with friends? And, why?
