Online Business Opportunities Using Affiliate Marketing

I signed up for a free (that’s why I went) talk by The Affiliated Solutions at the Securities Commission, Bukit Kiara and attended it just yesterday. Sorry if I didn’t share the information here because I assumed no one would skip their office hours from 3PM-5PM to attend an event with topics like ‘unorthodox strategies of affiliate marketing’ or selling a product ‘without a website’.

Anyway, if you’d like to attend one of these with me in the future do let me know in the comments. Without further due, let’s hear about the good and bad of the talk I attended.

These were some of the topics touched in the talk:

  • How to start an online business with less than RM300
  • Overview of general aspects pertaining to online marketing
  • How you can start an online business with no product, no website and no experience
  • How to be affiliated with the best brands and largest companies such as Fujitsu, Walmart, Apple, JP Morgan, Western Union, Macy’s, Dell, Sony Music, Hallmark and many others.
  • How to compete “unfairly” on the Internet amongst other competitors through cutting-edge technology and the most advanced marketing methods which will be readily available to you at your disposal.

One of the reasons why I didn’t want to post the details of the event here earlier as you can see was because I was worried too many of you might found these topics ‘dodgy‘. Not to mention many of you would know like those talks or seminars in the newspapers by online marketing experts, they are trying to sell you something. It wasn’t a lot of difference for this online business opportunity talk as well.

So the speaker who was sharing his experience; Dennis Lim, was someone I’ve not heard of and couldn’t find anything aout his background via Google. He tried very hard to get the small audience of less than 30 to interact with him. He was trying to show how effective is money making as an affiliate marketer and the nett profits if done right.

Some of the research notes I made attending this event on affiliate marketing or online marketing was; learning online courses should be done through a step-by-step process over a long period of time. Affiliate links can be hidden behind some of the Pay Per Click (PPC) providers. If I ran a website only for affiliate marketing, I can have different products but they should be of market related.

An important point that I have to agree with Dennis in any online business opportunity is the foresight. The visionary future of how your website or online business should grow or evolve down the road. The other thing important in any online business is the requirement of a benchmark or metrics to measure your goals and future development to your online business.

Some of the things that didn’t go with my principles was to use SMS marketing with affiliate marketing. In other words, promoting SMS spam that’s very annoying nowadays. Buying ‘wholesafe traffic’ to your website which I still don’t understand fully. When I think of buying traffic, it’s more or less doing something against what Google would ban you for. But if anyone knows of any real ‘legitimate wholesale traffic’ that won’t get you ban, do let me know.

An interesting article Dennis showed us about click fraud was that most of the problem lies in India. The article was about housewives going to a cybercafe getting paid USD 0.25 per advertisement click. I’d like to back this fact up so if anyone has more info, do bring it in.

The audience attending weren’t stupid old men and women who just wanted a quick buck. They asked very relevant questions like what tools he used to gather some of the data shown and what guarantees were in place if they did sign up for his online course that costs RM500 on registration and RM250 monthly.

It’s not me to judge the success of their promotional effort but when I left, I think only a handful considered signing up. I’ve to give it to Dennis though that he still remained very honest and carefree of sharing what knowledge he had about online marketing and business opportunities through affiliate marketing.

What do you guys think of these talks, seminars, workshops and are Malaysians prepared to attend these events?

  1. Hey dude, it had been a long time since we last spoke! Well, I took a break from blogging since I changed my job in January. Now clearing my Bloglines (don’t ask how many unread posts I have)

Anyway, just noticed the site title you have. I am sure you mean “within Malaysia”, not “with Malaysia”?

Will update my RSS feed now :)

  2. Dude,

You’ve definetely been on hiatus but it’s good to have you back. Thanks for the correction. Trying something with it now. ;)

  3. Danny,

Well, I do believe affiliate marketing works…

Initially I setup a website, apurchase.net just to update viewers of available affliate items available in the market.
But then after 2 months, I found out that this won’t work well. Because drive traffic to your site with something that non related to viewers or interest to viewers would be darn bored if you want them to browse thru or just click thru… Nah.. no good…
SO, I had abandon the site… erm.. say 4 months now.. :)

Then, something stuck few weeks ago. I still wanted to market affiliate programs but in a slightly different way. I want my viewers to be eager to find our what interesting links i have in the community portal i built for them.
But most importantly, I am not there to sell. I am just providing informations and serving them with latest news and etc…

Riverside Quay is a road name here in Southbank, Melbourne. This road is going to be a famous road to communities in Melbourne… then Australia… Well, just because we have the tallest residential building in Australia here.. Eureka Tower!

    So guess what,… I searched for RiversideQuay.com … hmmm… It’s available. So why wait.. Grab it! :)

gee…. Then I started to build this site using Joomla!.

In no time, I got some contents in and still adding. But most importantly, I get my affiliates links and ads up! hehee….
    Got some simple design on…

Btw, danny… give me some ideas/comments with my current design.. :)will ya? Thanks!

This week Thursday, I was shocked… with some sales coming in although its only 1 sale.
But then, it was just a great start… because it was only launch around 2 weeks.

OMG.. Friday, we checked again… Woww! we have another 5 more sales… geee… if this double daily… hmmm .. what will I have $$ end of the month? :).. will wait and see…. :)

Before I don’t really trust internet marketing or anything to do with selling online..
But after my mind was opened up by my mate, Matthew Ng,founder of iitis.com.

And Now with my experience, I truly believe it!…plus affiliate marketing works! Try it, you won’t regret.. Get to my site now and check my links page – go to marketing section. You will find these links useful dude….No cost involved… just add those links in your site… one by one… :)

Click fraud that you had mentioned,
I have had an email from google as below:

    “Hello,

It has come to our attention that invalid clicks have been generated on the Google ads found on your site(s). In the future, we may adjust your payment for any days during which invalid clicks occurred in order to properly credit advertisers for any invalid activity.

As a reminder, any method of generating invalid clicks is strictly prohibited. Invalid clicks include, but are not limited to, any clicks that are generated through the use of robots, automated clicking tools, manual clicks by a publisher on the publisher’s own web pages or a publisher encouraging others to click on his ads.

If you are clicking on the ads found on your web pages for testing purposes, please note that clicking on your own ads or encouraging others to do so for any reason is prohibited, due to the potential for inflation of advertiser costs. Please be assured that there is no need to test the ads found on your site as our specialists review all our ads to ensure that they meet Google’s advertising standards.

That’s load of bullshitz… We don’t even have time for doing so, we rather put more time on getting sites promoted than CPC them??? Would you? Probably just one of their tricks to get advertisement but don’t wanna pay us.. :(
But I do understand, click fraud do happens very often especially with bots crawling may do a few clicks daily…

Anyway…….By paying Dennis RM 500 registration and RM 250 monthly to learn marketing… I don’t think its worth it..
If you do a search online, there are heaps of people doing so like Dennis, some selling their e-books, methods, secrets, and etc…
    I don’t think i will believe them..

If those info really works, why not share it to everyone….? True?

That’s all for now Danny, wrote too much here! cheers…

  4. I guess the best way to learn things is still trial and error but you can minimize your errors by learning from others who’ve been through it like yourself.

And without determination, planning along with appropriate finances nobody could ever succeed in affiliate marketing.

Which merchants affiliate marketing merchants have you found working best for you?

p/s: Your website has a redundant navigation. Latest News and What’s Popular look like a single paragraph of content. I think some SEO needs to be thought about because I tried searching riverside quay on Google and yours is buried somewhere of the 823,000.

  5. geee… Thanks Danny, I knew that SEO in google wasn\’t that good in ranking.. :)

http://www.clixgalore.com/ (Danny Foo: I found the direct URL so I edited yours.)

ClixGalore is currently making me $$ for this site.

But the others are good because they have lots of other programs. Eg. RegNow, has lots of

software around the world to sell.

    Linkshare serves iTunes downloads.

    And many more…

Browse around and you will find them.

  6. Hey Carlson,

Thanks for sharing and I hope you don’t mind me editing your URL as I found the direct URL to ClixGalore.

I think it’s not to that SEO is not good in Google but it’s just very difficult.

I wonder what do you all think of buying ‘wholesale traffic’ though?

  7. Yeah, no probs..with the editing. cheers!

Wholesale traffic?… Hmm.. to me it just seems dodgy! And also paying for the traffic?… $$ Its not cheap though.

Instead of buying traffic, I would suggest to use this: http://www.linkbuildingdirect.com/

My mate, Matthew Ng, Founder, http://www.bizalchemy.org. Had tried… His (http://www.matthew.bizalchemy.org/) page ranking went up from 0 – 5 and SEO in Google boomed up to No #1 for “7 Day Internet Challenge” term search in less than 2 months.

This is pretty amazing….It actually points a number of page ranking 5 and above websites to your site. Page Ranking in Google – That’s what you are actually buying for a very low cost. I will definately use them very soon. When $$ starts to roll in..

Btw, I just found this recently: http://www.associate-o-matic.com
It’s like what we had discussed, selling affiliate products without actual products just only a website needed. By feeding/associate them thru Large companies like Amazon.

    Anyway, Cheers Good Luck!

  8. Can anyone recommend me affiliate programs where you can use text links?
