Europe United with Samsung Mobile

Previously, I was given the opportunity by folks at TechARP to review the unreleased Samsung SGH-L760 mobile blogging phone. I tried very hard to review this Samsung mobile phone without being bias against my other free mobile phone, the Apple iPhone. And it wasn’t easy, trust me.

Besides being able to blog on the Samsung L760 and post pictures or videos direct with it, I have found the built-in camera to be satisfactory. Plus, the ability to record video was the biggest advantage against my Apple iPhone. See, even the Apple iPhone can lose out! And although the banner says help me win one, I’m going to giveaway the won Samsung L760 to anyone who leaves the most creative comment with the theme “I want the Samsung L760!”

Moving on from giving TechARP a hand in promoting the mobile device by Samsung. I was recently approached by Thomas Bannister of SX Mobile Media. The company has developed a music video themed; uniting Europe through the spirit of dance. Mind you, this is an official online campaign being run for Samsung.

In their press release, Europe United is…

…a new music video from Samsung Mobile and SX Media has launched on Youtube and is the first ever truly democratic music video. Samsung and SX traveled to 10 European cities in 10 days -London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Prague, Barcelona, Ibiza, Moscow, Edinburgh and Galway- to get ordinary people to dance in this street. Whoever made it into the final cut won a free Samsung phone.

Other than using new media branding, what interest me about this Samsung campaign was this video is to represent the unity between European countries. In their own words…

…we hope to portray a degree of unity between all the different nationalities and cities of Europe by unifying them through the spirit of dance expression.

And below is the finished music video by SX Media for Samsung Mobile.

SX Media has also produced other unique online campaigns. One of the ones I’ve watched online and found unique was; Illeanarama – Supermarket Of The Stars, which was recently nominated for 3 TV Guide Web Awards.

Simple question: Why can’t Malaysia produce more stuff like this for new media branding? :P
