The easiest always goes unnoticed as many bloggers think to generate traffic is rocket science. If it’s not science, it’s some mathematical equation they blame the ‘big daddy’ for coming up with it. Well, the easiest way to generate blog traffic is through comments.
When was the last time you ever left a comment on a person’s blog? When did you last comment on a person’s blog not in your RSS feed or Blogroll? Again, the easiest way to generate blog traffic is by commenting on a new person’s blog. It doesn’t mean it has to be a new blogger but a blogger whom you have not left a comment before.
Content aggregators like Project Petaling Street (PPS) contains a vast supply of blogs you could visit and comment. Not to mention, a vast amount of subjects are discussed on it day in day out.
This is the easiest way to generate blog traffic because you will always have something constructive or emotional to say on the blog post you selected. Blog post tittles attract you because it strikes a number in your mind. Be it a hot chick or an honorable cause, we have something to share.
The easiest way to generate traffic can be the most effective if done properly. For instance, don’t be a moron and leave only comments like “Great post”, “Nice site” and etc. Those phrases are used by blog spammers.
If you want the blog author (or commenters) to visit your blog, leave a constructive or meaningful response which triggers the same note. Let’s try one out for example – I’m going to give a lucky blogger on PPS some traffic.
Are you a transformers fan? Then, what would you comment to this; Optimus Prime spotted at my office. I’ve already left my comment there so you have an idea of what I’m getting at.
So, try it out right now. Visit a content aggregator like PPS or similar and comment on a blog you’ve not commented before. Obviously, comment on a topic you feel strikes a chord with you and let me know how it goes.

I can relate to this Danny. I love to comment on posts which I have something to add value to – so mainly your main point should be to read an entire post, and only decide if you want to comment. I dislike people that reads titles, and immediately posts a very generic comment.
I also have another tip. As a web citizen that uses the internet alot for research, and personal stuff – It’s nice to have an RSS reader software, or web page to take advantage of syndication. From there I know when my tracked sites have new content, and I read when I’ve made time.
This makes it true for blogs. I have professional blogs, and personal blogs I read. When there’s a new post and it’s interesting: I make a comment.
Social media is an industry I track very closely, and about a month ago I’ve used the new social web browser called flock – man it’s excellent! It’s a powerful tool in your arsenal if you don’t have a RSS reader, and frequent places like Facebook, and YouTube.
I’ve heard much about taking advantage of social marketing tools from Facebook to Stumbleupon and etc. However, this is a new exciting trend and marketing ground to learn up once again.
As for the commenting, healthy comments generally connect you to bloggers better. Kinda like how you meet a person over lunch or dinner. Building a relationship, so to speak. :)
I shall try it… NOW! haha :P
You won’t get instantaneous results but making a habit in commenting other people’s blogs will give you more exposure.
And thank you very much for putting this advice into practice by commenting on my own site. Haha. Honestly, I do try to go to the blogs of people who have left comments for me and see if there are any posts there of interest to me to comment on, but there are times when there’s simply nothing much of personal interest for me to comment on and I’d rather not make a comment than a generic, pointless one.
Haha. It did bring you here, Wan. And that’s proof enough. :P
But yes, if you really don’t have anything to comment back on the other author’s blog then it’s better not to comment. However, the visit over was the main goal of commenting on their blog.
To increase exposure and awareness of your blog. :)
Well, it only works if the comment landed on a blogger who is appreciative and reciprocates.
One more thing to add is that, it pays to be sincere and honest. Commenting sincerely, honestly on blogs run by an appreciative, reciprocal blogger works best.
I find it that not many bloggers comment sincerely and honestly though. Why do I say that?
As the author of an article, one is able to easily judge by the way the commentator commented, to determine if that commentator actually finished reading, and fully understands the article before commenting.
I find it kinda sad that the Cyberspace is so full of these insincere comment mofos. Sad fact, but so bloody true, aye?
To conclude my thoughts, it might be the easiest way to generate blog traffic, it might not be the most effective way.
On the other hand, using EntreCard is the most effective way to generate blog traffic, especially if you made it to the Top.

It’s effective in its own way, Deimos. As for Entrecard, I heard about it here and there. But when I see the introduction, it talks about promoting, advertising…bla..bla…leaving me in a confused state.
Nonetheless, I’m signing up now to just give it a whirl since you’re supporting it strongly.
p.s: Not sure if I’ll reach the Top where blog traffic is most effective.
Hi Danny,
You sure practice what you preach. You left a comment on our blog. hehehehe…
Oh forgot to add…thanks for this tip!
I like K-popped, Orchid. And I’ve left a comment before…I think. :)
Anyway, part of commenting is to also gain visibility in the blogosphere. Although you may not become instant friends with the blog celebs, you’re building on a relationship with other bloggers.
Plus, it’s more surprising when I hear some bloggers whom I’ve met say; “Hey, you’re Danny Foo from that blog right?” LOL!
Thanks for the tips and the first think I must do is drop my comment here. Hopefully my sitemeter numbers increase after this ;)
Thanks again
