I started pondering over the question this morning. And I have to admit, with a refreshed state of mind I tend to think better. It occurred to me one of the things I consider whenever publishing to my blog is; the time. We are all ‘kiasu’ at some point by nature. So I keep thinking by publishing at the right time, I’ll generate the best of my traffic.
Therefore, I’m going to start tracking if the time really does matter when you publish. Then I’ll be able to say; the myth of time does matter when you publish is false! Not to mention, it’ll make me feel good and less troubled having to publish on the exact time continuously. We are humans for crying out loud.
First thing to do was find the day which I had the most visits. Although I’m running WordPress Blog Stats behind this blog, it can be misunderstood. If you take the chart below for example (and it’s my real stats – don’t laugh-la).
The last documented statistics was yesterday; the last point of the graph. I was surprised to notice a spike in traffic again. Coming at a good time, now we can analyze at roughly what times the blog was most active on that day. This was a job for my Google Analytics.
According to Google Analytics, my highest amount of blog readers visited at 11:00AM. After work started, it dropped like winter instantly. By the days end, another spike of traffic came in again at 1600 hours or 4:00PM.
The morning schedule is common in most blogs because visitors tend to do some reading before their day begins. You could say it’s kind of like reading the daily papers in the morning. But, the afternoon time is a surprise to me. I expected most visitors to read at 5:00PM. Hmm…maybe most people now leave the office by 5:00PM.
Since I’ve posed this question, I’m wondering if the morning or night traffic is best. What do you think?

Early morning, when people just arrive in office and evening/night time. Afternoon are the busiest time so people don’t get the time to online so often :P My 2 cents la… :P
hmm..i never thought of checking what time my visitors usually come. But i usually do it in the morning so that I can ping PPS coz i think thats when ppl reads blogs the most

Well, pretty hard to tell as well that’s 2:0 that publishing in the morning is more effective.
Ping the PPS in the afternoon. Cause you know why? People come back from lunch ha… they lazy lazy bit… surf surf… getting ready to work again… siao… it’s always like that one in my office hahaha
