Benefits of Apple iPhone firmware 1.1.2 in Malaysia

Apple iPhone firmware 1.1.2When Apple released the Apple iPhone firmware version 1.1.2, I said there wasn’t much improvements made to the Apple iPhone. Especially when it only concerned things like Voice Memos and some free-disk usage thing. However, the Low Yat forum Apple iPhone users in Malaysia reported otherwise.

One of the minuscule upgrades in the Apple iPhone firmware version 1.1.2 was it’s much more stable and faster than firmware 1.1.1. It was commented that the applications just snap right up after being summoned upon. I’ve no real proof of this as I’m still running firmware 1.1.1 though the other reported improvements are tempting.

The new Apple iPhone firmware 1.1.2 improvements reported were:

  • Foreign language support; including UK English, French, German and Italian.
  • A battery status indicator in iTunes.
  • Faster and smoother operatability, not feeling lag during screen changes.
  • 3rd party applications respond to functions much faster.
  • 95% of the Apps for v1.1.1 work (they all haven’t been tested yet)
  • The volume of the speakers is more louder and does not tear the speaker on high volumes or pitch sounds.
  • The International support with AppSupport makes it now possible to: Receive service SMSes from banks and other operators.
  • The Caller ID works without mentioning the country code before the number in the Address Book.
  • VM Notification now works! (I’ve no idea what this is.)
  • Overclocked processor. (sw33t!)
  • Wi-Fi life is improved as it now switches into a less power hungry standy mode.
  • New standby modes for EDGE and Wi-Fi. (This I’ve got to try.)
  • Fixed: When entering a password, the shift key acted as CAPS LOCK in firmware 1.1.1.
  • When you turn off the phone and turn it back on, it goes straight to the home screen instead of the slider screen. (Yes!)
  • A smooth transition is noticed when switching between the Album cover screen and list screen in iPod. (How smoother can it get?)
  • Photo Library being a lot smoother, faster scrolling through pictures. (I never experienced any lag.)
  • Removed the extra ‘Contacts’ option from Settings. (Weird, I never had this problem.)

As you can see, some of the reported fixes to selected areas are…not even valid – to me. For example; I never had an extra ‘Contacts’ in my Settings. Why does anyone have the extra problem I’ve no idea.

But there are a few things in there which would make me try firmware 1.1.2. Hmm, gotta go contact my guy at MAXIMiPhone and ask him if I should upgrade to firmware 1.1.2. *grin*

Simple question: What improvements have noticed after upgrading to firmware 1.1.2?
