The cyber games that all gaming phreaks and l33ts of Malaysia await to get their first taste of professional gaming and a chance to qualify to play with the best players all over the world. It isn’t a game of just simple shoot-em up or a game that you know you can trick your friends like how you did before. This is where you’ll be proven wrong and get humiliated by the underdogs or people you never knew who might have been better than you. My friends, this is Malaysia’s World Cyber Games qualifiers. :)
I’ve seen the games slowly evolved from its first event to what it is now in 2004. The participating games have changed from time to time and now they’re using Counter Strike: Condition Zero instead of the normal version. Hmm, wonder if it’s cause Steam is only online. *shrug* Other games included this year: Need for Speed (Undergound), 02Jam (Online Game), FIFA Soccer, StarCraft: Broodwar and UT2004. The first games they only had CounterStrike, Warcraft, FIFA and Age of Empires. Really quite a big change.. Even an online game. Interesting.
Their website is revamped for each games. I’m quite impressed by the design of the current one. It looks professional but in terms of usability, I think they need to work on it quite a lot. It’s upbeat with the colors and all but let’s take the banner for example; Does the gamer look Malaysian to you? Sigh, I think one of their tables is off too because the sides are jutting out already. Because they only manipulate the size of the content area, sometimes there’s just too much information around. I’ve also noticed that some of the graphic text aren’t clear to be read. Even the words Gear Up “Join Now” isn’t that clear. Though it’s near perfect, they needed more time on it. I get the feeling their main sponsor in2 did the website because it has a certain consistency.
The other thing I think is weird is that they never updated the results. -.-” They expect people to just view the video streaming and not just want to see the standings? Come on. That’s either lazy or just not working hard enough to be professional. Anyway, I’m going to rest my case and hope next year it’ll be a better one. Sigh, I miss joining the games. :)
