Digitalmash Website Review

It’s been awhile since I’ve done one of these so time to get the old gears a cranking. Digitalmash is the portfolio of a fine Australian based designer; Rob. The website complies to website standards and  though it uses Flash, you know I’ve no complaints to the ones that entertain and at least take advantage of Flash.

The website follows a very monochromatic tone with strong black and grey hues. So if you’re looking for something cheerful to brighten you up, I suggest jumping right to Rob’s portfolio.

The first thing I obviously noticed was Rob’s big head in black and white above. However, due to my curious behaviour half the time when it comes to websites as good looking, I tend Right+Click on interesting areas.

My behaviour managed to uncover secret goodies of Rob’s head. All you need to do is Right+Click his head and you’ll see some extra stuff in the not normal default Flash menu. If anyone would like to know how tihs is done, do leave a comment and I’ll bring up the entry another day.

The one thing I don’t really fancy on his homepage are the lime green type links. Maybe it looked alright on a lowered brightness monitor or an Apple Macintosh display but the links on my LCD are just hard to read, mate. I can understand that he was going for the whole consistency but he should turn lime down a notch.

And just lately I’ve discovered a new button! The ‘i’ hidden on the top right below the Client Login actually unveils a hidden card. Well, maybe the information wasn’t that important to the website.

Rob’s recent work need not be questioned sporting big names. However, I still think I’m finding a little trouble reading the text ‘About this project’ and the ‘Visit this site’ with it Cyan/Teal colors. I think a highlight will definetely solve all this link colors in a jiffy.

Rob’s website contains very minimal stuff so your journey ends rather quickly. But if you’ve the time, you can have a go at the options in the Flash menu of Rob’s head.

If Rob does see this, could you add one that shows a skull and your brain in there? ;) No insult ended but just a wacked out idea that just came.

So visit Digitalmash and see Rob impersonate Harry Potter.
