One of the biggest events is coming to Malaysia in just 2 days; Merdeka Day. While everyone’s trying to place the biggest Malaysia flasgs available on their ‘Kancil’ cars, why not blog on this proud day and become a Merdeka Blogger. I’ll tell you what’s a Merdeka Blogger and what makes a blogger become one. :)
Bloggers who blog on Merdeka day are called Merdeka Bloggers not just because they’re writing an article for that day. They can only be called a true Merdeka Blogger if they’re writing with patriotism for their country and most importantly, themselves.
Yes, a blogger who merely knows about the country’s history or the nasi lemak and writes about it isn’t yet a Merdeka Blogger because they’re not writing for themselves.
A person blogging on Merdeka day represents part of the Malaysian blogosphere celebrating their independence online. The bloggers who write independent articles are expressing the true meaning of merdeka; freedom. The freedom to express ourselves about being free in the blogosphere is what makes us a Merdeka Blogger.
So it takes more than history to become a real Merdeka Blogger. It’s being able to remake and relive history in our own way today. That’s why this Merdeka I’m expressing my freedom another way.
This Merdeka I’m going to write an article about my freedom of blogging and what have I had done to achieve this freedom. The article about my experience will then be contributed to the Merdeka Blogger Project (MBP) that’s coming back this year.
So have you thought about your freedom in blogging?
