The Buyer Protection Policy from PayPal is meant to protect buyers who use Paypal to pay for their goods. And this now applies to even the Malaysia PayPal market. However, you’ll want to read the Buyer Protection Policy clearly.

As much as the policy protects buyers from the goods not arriving, it has its drawback. Long processing time.
Here’s a quickie of it from Paypal’s description:
- If you face a problem with an item you purchased and paid with your PayPal account, file a dispute in our Resolution Centre within 45 days from the date you paid for your purchase.
- You will have 20 days to file a claim from the date the dispute was opened.
- This evaluation will be done before the amount is credited into your PayPal account at leastafter 7 days.
In total, the process from filing a dispute to receiving your refund from Paypal is approximately 72 days. That’s about 2 and half months. Will you wait that long?
Plus, there is a clause which notes:
PayPal will review all posted messages to evaluate your claim to make a final decision in your favor.
Meaning, it may even take longer than the stated time. Thus, it would be better advised if you purchased an item from a trusted seller.
And if that wasn’t scary, you’ll want to read up on the terms which constitutes Significantly Not As Described (SNAD) before filing a dispute.
So, is the PayPal buyer protection policy a godsend, or not?
Bro, you need to check your maths abit.
You Have 45 days to file a dispute. Then you have 20 days to file a claim after your dispute is open. The evaluation will take at least 7 days.
It doesn’t mean the process will take 72 days. The process takes a minimum of 7 days. The other figures quoted are grace periods which isn’t a factor to the process.
Hmm, I guess not 72 days but still may take some time.
But that’s better than being cheated, nonetheless. :p
