MCMC Malaysia Have To Arrest Email Mailing List Suppliers

pen and letterMCMC stands for Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Communications and they are the government body responsible for the deployment of spam laws including SMS and email in Malaysia. I know about them because I literally took an hour plus trying to find more information about the spam laws in Malaysia.

And as you may have guessed, we don’t exactly have a CAN-SPAM act in Malaysia. Without this plus the legal guidelines of mailing lists, there are local companies openly selling email mailing lists. I know this for a fact because some Malaysia company spammed me with their…

SURE REACH EMAIL ADDRESS!!!! IMPROVE YOUR EMAIL MARKETING ACTIVITY…..

100% sure reach valid email, come with warranty.

Arrest companies like these already for crying out loud. Or at least, complete the CAN-SPAM act requirements and forward them officially to existing Malaysia businesses. If some bright person inside says, “We’re going to waste money because they’ll throw them away” then send the guidelines to all ICT companies instead.

Because those responsible to control and moderate (besides MCMC) mailing lists are the ICT companies. Especially those offering bulk email marketing or services allowing clients to blast out thousands of emails in a short time span.

Bad enough there were exposed emails during the Youth Malaysia incident, there are companies now selling email mailing lists in Malaysia like this:

.my email address – RM300.00/copy

  • Collection of 20K non repeat email address with .my domain.
  • Tested with our mail server on promotion email.
  • Purely email address only, 100% valid email, 1 to 1 exchange if not valid email found.

In addition, the company is also promoting the availability of Singapore emails. So what is MCMC really doing about problems (involving privacy policies) like this?

  1. Email Lists would often be valuable as reference for any business purposes. This is very important to boost up the marketing field a particular venture in business.

  2. I would always look forward for any email lists relevant for my business. Any business person would want to be successful in their, that’s why they needed contact information for their possible market.

By Danny: I appreciate you marketing your services here but the URL field could have been used with good reason.

Reference, yes. Delivery of unwanted, non-requested emails is a big no for me. No matter how tempting it is, unless you’re working with the company who wants to share their email list with you because of a collaboration then maybe.

    Honey:
Of course, everyone wants to be successful. However, what’s a successful email marketing campaign if the email lands in the recipients Junk folder or the recipient marks it as Junk later. Every continuous email sent would probably end up in the Junk folder…again.

  4. In my streamyx email inbox there is so much spam by other companies not even tmnut.

I never gave out my email so how did these people get it and start spaming it ?

I suspect tmnut has been making some extra cash by selling our streamyx emails. What a good way to get us to subscribe to their anti spam and all those other services ….

    It’s sad that the consumers are as we say in WOW at the rough end of the nether stick o_O;

  5. Moogle, I won’t use their Streamyx even if they gave it to me free. And, I’m not using it either. Probably my Dad would but not me. I’m the Hotmail, Yahoo and now, Gmail generation. ROFL!

Anyway, I think you can create a Gmail and setup to retrieve your Streamyx email from it. Then, you can use Gmail to help filter all the spam.

Marking spam in Gmail helps blacklist certain vendors and helps improve the email marketing health internationally. ;)
