This is the follow up to the article, MALAYSIAN PIRATED BLOGGER which saw a new Malaysian blogger who launched the blog BloggerTips gaining early popularity for the wrong reasons. The wrong reason was looked at very severely when you’re taking an exam, in college, in university and now, on the Internet.
This new blogger in the local blogosphere recently announced that his mistake came from his ignorance of using live blog posts from other sources just to test his new blog. As much as I’d like to believe its truth and not hammer my own countryman, I find it very weird that a blogger or a person could just go ahead and utilize the tons of online content and not have a clue that credit should be given to the original authors.
Sigh..but I guess everyone will have to fall some time during the journey and they’ll have to learn to pick themselves up no matter how dreadful the problem.
This fellow blogger showed his repent by making a public apology to all the authors of the articles that he mistakenly ripped. This is how his apology went:
I’m very sorry….i’m just testing the template… Now i already credited the writers, i thought just put link to the original author site is enough and not against the law.. Now i have removed all the contents that not being credited with the proper way. Thanks to darren from problogger for knocking my head, make me realize the faults. For the time being, i will remove all the entry and check if i had credited the correct person. Its quite shameful if the site is still online when i am editing it. Sorry all bloggers…its not the intention, only the wrong method which i think its OK. And for Malaysians, very sorry if this thing cause bad name to all the citizens, i ask for your forgiveness for this silly mistake. Next time, i will credited following the correct way and not only the SOURCE link. For all the international bloggers, thanks for yelling and scolding..i will take that as a positive advice. I thought testing the template, also WordPress with temporary contents may not reach the international but its a shameful blow for me. To all, thanks again. To all the authors especially cred8-design, thanks for telling the correct way to credit author. Hope dont blame all Malaysians, LiewCf is example of our problogger…Thanks. Please email me at apex at bloggertips.com if you have any response of this public statement.â€
Apex is also trying to make it up to his local bloggers by teaching them the right methods of crediting articles. I guess he had done his research and finally is taking the initiative to thank the authors of the posts he’s putting up on his blog.
For anyone who wishes to test their blog and need free content, visit Lipsum.com, select how many words, lines, paragraphs you’d like to generate then just copy and paste the text. This text is what we designers call dummy text and not to worry, Lipsum is a free service.
I hope all local bloggers now understand why it takes research before starting a new and soon to be successful blog of their own.
I think many people that visit this blog will find the ‘ipsum losam apapun sam’ link useful. I used it so many times I just think its a common sense. But hat offs to you for introducing the wonderful ‘sum’ to others. I like your blueish vanilla strip down design btw. ^_^
Although the damn comment box can be a lot wider lar pls. So kiam siap one, scare people like me who comment long long one is it?
Well, I hope the Lipsum does help everyone starting out a new weblog or website. As for the design, it’s all MTs StyleCatcher. ;)
As for the comment box, urm..not my fault cause that’s how the CSS has been pre-programmed. I’ll try to do a fix.
Cheers.
