Hawk shared a blog entry by Andy Rutledge with me. Andy’s blog called Design View has got numerous entries regarding design and the one Hawk passed to me was definetely worth highlighting. :)
Andy created a small multiple choice quiz testing the knowledge of design fundamentals and certain involving elements in website design. I think everyone who claims they’re a website designer or have attended design school should take the Andy Rutledge Design Test for a spin.
Some might disagree with his answers to the questions and you’re not alone, I too believe there might be somethings that can be debated on. Anyway, here’s a teaser of a question from the quiz.
- 14. The most powerful and communicative shape in art and design is the:
- a. triangle
- b. circle
- c. square
- d. rectangle
- e. chunky wallet shape
*clock ticking away*
*times up*
Answers a triangle. Why?
As I explained to Hawk when he asked; “well, i dun think it was explained in design school for me.. but i think the logic in design for that is because it has a single pointed edge combined to create a center focus on the top..if u compared a star and the triangle.. the star gets more attention due to the many pointed edges pointing out..”
Do you think you’ve got a different opinion? Or maybe they explained it to you while in design school? :P
i would have answered the circle. no explanation. i just think the answer to the question is circle.
hahahaha. i guess im not artsy enough to answer that question.
