Designer Design Killers

Confusing ain’t it? Well, designers are known to come up with a conceptualize design solution for your design needs. Whether be it print, web, identity and etc. However, have you ever wondered if a designer who designs could actually be killing the design.

I found this opinion rather interesting after reading the article; Design Choices Can Cripple a Website at A List Apart.

There’s a ongoing discussion between designers, usability analysts and others who’ve shared their own view of the story.

The discussion there is a perfect example of how subjective even a layout design can be.

So basically this is what’s going to happen when you read the article. You’ll be greeted by a very nice Chinese art type come Sun Tzu’s Art of War painting. Then the mission you’ll need to accomplish is to choose out of all the layouts put front, which will produce the biggest turnover numbers.

Example A was the original layout done for the mission.Example B was the minor tweakings of example A, keeping everything tightly intact. Example C which is the final example was a clean cut modern type layout.

Out of these three examples that you could see later, you’ll need to figure out which would give the largest turnover number. You’ll find a short analysis review of the answer at the bottom later. But it won’t be a mission anymore if you just read the bottom right.

So after you’ve seen, read, and analyzed it. Please come back here and discuss your view of it. I’d like to see if the results here compared to the ones in their discussion is valid or is there other factors – maybe cultural, that might play a role.

The article is called Design Choices Can Cripple a Website. Good luck.
