On a gloomy day, seated behind the computer we see four-eyed Danny staring into a monitor. On the table is his rolled up degree that he just got but haven’t even had the time to frame it, let hang it somewhere in his room.
Poor spectacled Danny is hard at work finishing one of his latest freelance works that he knows after it’s done he’d have enough to start his own website design and development firm.
That’ll be the prelude of the game and the introduction of the character. Then as time progresses, the players will have to make smart decisions to help Danny build his business into an internationally acclaimed firm. The only way to actually win the game is to get Danny listen in the Future 100 list and he must be ranked at least in the Top 50.
In the game, players will be pitted with challenges like:
- Avoid Business Software Alliance (BSA) officials, Bankers, Taxers and etc.
- Migration to original software. (it’s a truly Malaysian game)
- Hiring more capable staff.
- Maintain the workers energy. (workload and salary)
- Manage a list of clients with different personalities.
- Make decisions regarding clients, designs, development (HTML/PHP)
- Manage Danny’s girlfriend, family and friends.
If the game does appear (just make sure to inform me), I hope it’ll teach a few basic things of the business to anyone aiming to setup something like this. I’m also hoping it won’t be too Malaysian thinking oriented. I don’t want to get into details of that but yes, this game of course can’t be a total depiction of real life because we’d have a clash of business principles, ethics and practices then.
Does anyone else have an idea or feature they’d like to see added into a game like this to teach the masses? :)
No web design game would be complete without the “customer from hell” who insist that the web site you design be #1 on Google for some generic search term like “lawyers”, “accountants” or “insurance”.
Lol. That would definetely make one of the decisive problems whether to just pay for listing and make alittle or try your best by solving an SEO quiz and see if you’re lucky enough to succeed for an implementation. ;)
The game sounds fun! Would like to join but I don’t know if I’ll survive. I’ve never been good at chess or monopoly anyway, heh.
So does that mean if we play the game we have to manage your girlfriend and family for you? o_O
*nod nod* you’ll have to manage the normal girlfriend/wife scenarios like maybe repeated late nights working will lower her esteem..yada yada..and the family, well, it won’t be as difficult but just to make sure you know what’s happening within it. :P
how about those so called web standard evangelist (you know, those who don’t care about semantic and graceful degration but worship validation like a Godsend message).
You gotta give them a slot.
well, they’d basically be one of your competitors in pitching clients. maybe if the game goes gold and it has multiplayer, the evangelists could be expanded on even further.
