New Straits Times Creates Monster Blog

I might actually be the last to know here but while flipping through my daily NST today, I discovered hidden in the corner a small visual of a local minister being in a Podcast. When I first saw this I thought if it were a local or international blog but then noticed the local .com.my domain to the URL.

Digging into the archives, the Monster Blog created by NST has been launched since early July around 12-13. Looks like I’m getting rusty and local happenings aren’t going too well with me. But not to fret, I’m still here sharing what I know with those who want to know. :)

The header design of the blog gave me the impression that I’d be expecting hip and happening things from this blog. And I think this Monster Blog won’t be short of it because behind the scenes, you’d be surprise who they found to maintain and operate the blog. Are you ready?

If you’ve been blogging for a year or two (minimum) than you’d be ashamed of yourself to not know about these prominent bloggers around the Malaysia blogosphere especially a smaller handful who gain early blogger fame this year. Some have been recognized for blogging about women and some have been blogging about cars. Bet you should know who are they by now.

  • Paul Tan
  • Peter Tan (non-related to Paul, I think)
  • Sultan Muzaffar
  • KY (the ladykiller)
  • Joyce
  • Kimberlycun
  • Suanie
  • Minishorts
  • ShaolinTiger
  • Joe Rodrigo
  • And leading the editorial, Srikathirasa

The NST’s efforts to dive into the blogging foray with these blogging knights will only be known in 6 months or later. Blogging as we know is a heavy responsibility to hold and it gets heavier when we’ve more than one blog to run. These local blogging icons already know that and they’re challenging themselves further to supremacy.

Will the New Straits Times monster be able to stomp The Star’s online audience or will a new challenger, The Sun or The Malay Mail pull out a dragon later.

We’ll see won’t we. ;)
