WWW or just .COM

Was what I’ve just learned about from the article I read HERE. Of course a website address is www.your-domain.com but did you realize that you can sometimes also access your website via your-domain.com. Still not surprised? Well, I’ve come across some Malaysian websites that disallow the use of your-domain.com and one such example belongs to TGV. Try typing the URL tgv.com.my without the www and you won’t be able to enter their website.

Anyway, so what’s so important about having a WWW or not in your domain? Ah-ha! Well, I ain’t going to tell cause I want you to read the original article. However, here’s a snippet:

..you are showing the search engines .. your site is serving up duplicate content..

Interested in knowing more and how to curb the problem? Well, then proceed on and read the article, HERE.

with or without WWW, both must works. Just redirect one to another to avoid duplicate. :)

Try telling that to TGV. It’s actually weird without the WWW it doesn’t work. Well, the redirecting is the method explained in Sitepoint’s article. In there, the author explained how it could be done via htaccess. :)
