Free Online Video Provider Veoh Bans Malaysia Viewers
This news is roughly a month old or longer but I never did look for what apparent reason the free online video source; Veoh, decided to ban Malaysia viewers. Not only that, apparently more than 30 countries have been inserted into the country banned list. If you think that’s bad, here’s the best explanation Veoh provided to enquirers:
Veoh is maintaining markets when we have the highest concentration of viewers.
As vague as it sounds, my business partner has described their action as “not many people use our service, so let’s stop them from using our service altogether!” And I’d say 3-cheers for Veoh, now all Malaysia users and other banned cuontries have the best reason to use YouTube more.
This is the list of countries currently banned by Veoh:
- Brazil
- Jamaica
- Chile
- Puerto Rico
- Indonesia
- Guadeloupe
- Malaysia
- Venezuela
- Guatemala
- Luxembourg
- Costa Rica
- El Salvador
- Panama
- Dominican Republic
- Saudi Arabia
- Argentina
- Cayman Islands
- Slovenia
- Hungary
- Guam
- colombia
- Chile
- Romania
- Cyprus
- United Arab Emirates
- Latvia
- Antigua
- Barbuda
- Malta
- Trinidad and Tobago
- Lithuania
- Peru
- Turkey
- Czech Republic
- Croatia
Bad enough we’re still dealing with people who still believe Malaysia (or Singapore) residents are living in the trees like Ewoks. Our country is now banned from an online free video source provider because we aren’t using their services enough.
Yes, we all have the right to be more than upset with Veoh but I’d relate it back to our Internet connection again. Due to the lack of a consistent and efficient broadband Internet connection, Internet users in Malaysia can’t download online videos as fast and a large percentage of us have only heard of Google (and YouTube).
Anyway, like someone mentioned online if you really wanted to access Veoh you still can. There are proxy methods used to hide your original IP address and trick a website to believing you’re accessing it from another location. So if you’re really into Veoh, this is one of the methods to Google and learn.
In the meantime, we’ll just continue watching YouTube, Revver and other free online video providers who’ve not thought of banning countries because there are less users in it.

Surprisingly, only Malaysia, an ASEAN country is banned. Why?
i had many reasons not to you use Veoh before, and here they go, they’ve banned it. good for them
Since they don’t prefer us, I don’t want them. Bye bye and good riddance.
well it sucks really that malaysia got banned. veoh really dont care about copywright and stuff and that actually help our pirate industry to grow. watched all those movies and stuff for free.. well good thing wont last these days.. all paklah fault!!!
Wing Loon:
No clue there, buddy.
max:
Well, I rarely used Veoh. And, YouTube. LOL!
cipan:
Maybe their policies are a little more lenient so to speak.
it’s really annoying, just when i started to get my internet connection back, they decided to come up such stupid decision! 90% of my download materials (mostly animes) came from this damn site!
if they don’t want us, its a loss for them! shish~
fool…malaysia is not the only asean country get banned.
Kai:
Well, Malaysia is one of the top countries still identified as fraud and if I’m not mistaken we’re still one of the biggest providers in pirated goods. LOL!
Jon:
Indeed, Indonesia is in the list too. Unless I’m missing another country which I’ve not added.
Lol, holy fucking hell. Now that’s quite a nice excuse. /sarcasm
To me this list of countries looks more like countries that are in this world not looked at as “important” (in many senses).
Now I have to use a proxy server to access this site, but luckily I am not that desperate for that matter, there are other websites that are still available for my country. Luckily. -__-;
