A Dream User Interface

It was like every Monday today except for one difference. A visual came to me while struggling to get out of bed to start the day. An idea struck me and I started wondering, what if we actually had an interface to choose a dream of our choice.

What will it look like? How will it work?

I came up with a user interface that was very simple to use and you wouldn’t have to waste time weighing your options. We can actually dream what we want but it’s how we prepare ourselves to get the dream we want.

Dream User Interface

The user interface provided general options visually to the person asleep. She’s got a wide selection to choose from:

  • Her kids back home.
  • The adventure her friends told her about.
  • Wishing she had a lot of money to spend.
  • An abstract or philosophical meaning in a dream.
  • Food
  • The perfect holiday getaway.

The descriptions above are a generalization I’ve made that may be relevant or irrelevant to her reason for taking a nap. She might have just argued with someone or she might have just finished a stressful day. Whatever the case, the way I’ve described each imagery is really dependent on the individual and their past activities.

For a website, it’s about the same. If the user interface is jumbled and not simple enough for the user who might’ve faced a rough day at work, they’ll feel less excited to use your website. However, if your website was simple to use and helps them take away their burden, they might actually spend more time there to release their worries.

Do you think your dream interface is more complex?
