Online Business Opportunities Using Affiliate Marketing
I signed up for a free (that’s why I went) talk by The Affiliated Solutions at the Securities Commission, Bukit Kiara and attended it just yesterday. Sorry if I didn’t share the information here because I assumed no one would skip their office hours from 3PM-5PM to attend an event with topics like ‘unorthodox strategies of affiliate marketing’ or selling a product ‘without a website’.
Anyway, if you’d like to attend one of these with me in the future do let me know in the comments. Without further due, let’s hear about the good and bad of the talk I attended.
These were some of the topics touched in the talk:
- How to start an online business with less than RM300
- Overview of general aspects pertaining to online marketing
- How you can start an online business with no product, no website and no experience
- How to be affiliated with the best brands and largest companies such as Fujitsu, Walmart, Apple, JP Morgan, Western Union, Macy’s, Dell, Sony Music, Hallmark and many others.
- How to compete “unfairly” on the Internet amongst other competitors through cutting-edge technology and the most advanced marketing methods which will be readily available to you at your disposal.
One of the reasons why I didn’t want to post the details of the event here earlier as you can see was because I was worried too many of you might found these topics ‘dodgy‘. Not to mention many of you would know like those talks or seminars in the newspapers by online marketing experts, they are trying to sell you something. It wasn’t a lot of difference for this online business opportunity talk as well.
So the speaker who was sharing his experience; Dennis Lim, was someone I’ve not heard of and couldn’t find anything aout his background via Google. He tried very hard to get the small audience of less than 30 to interact with him. He was trying to show how effective is money making as an affiliate marketer and the nett profits if done right.
Some of the research notes I made attending this event on affiliate marketing or online marketing was; learning online courses should be done through a step-by-step process over a long period of time. Affiliate links can be hidden behind some of the Pay Per Click (PPC) providers. If I ran a website only for affiliate marketing, I can have different products but they should be of market related.
An important point that I have to agree with Dennis in any online business opportunity is the foresight. The visionary future of how your website or online business should grow or evolve down the road. The other thing important in any online business is the requirement of a benchmark or metrics to measure your goals and future development to your online business.
Some of the things that didn’t go with my principles was to use SMS marketing with affiliate marketing. In other words, promoting SMS spam that’s very annoying nowadays. Buying ‘wholesafe traffic’ to your website which I still don’t understand fully. When I think of buying traffic, it’s more or less doing something against what Google would ban you for. But if anyone knows of any real ‘legitimate wholesale traffic’ that won’t get you ban, do let me know.
An interesting article Dennis showed us about click fraud was that most of the problem lies in India. The article was about housewives going to a cybercafe getting paid USD 0.25 per advertisement click. I’d like to back this fact up so if anyone has more info, do bring it in.
The audience attending weren’t stupid old men and women who just wanted a quick buck. They asked very relevant questions like what tools he used to gather some of the data shown and what guarantees were in place if they did sign up for his online course that costs RM500 on registration and RM250 monthly.
It’s not me to judge the success of their promotional effort but when I left, I think only a handful considered signing up. I’ve to give it to Dennis though that he still remained very honest and carefree of sharing what knowledge he had about online marketing and business opportunities through affiliate marketing.
What do you guys think of these talks, seminars, workshops and are Malaysians prepared to attend these events?
