Write More Than You Can Publish
I’m kind of contradicting myself as I write this article. Simple explanation, this is going against an earlier article I wrote called; Delete Blog Drafts Older Than a Month. I wrote it because I had a number of posts in queue. They were structured points of the article I wanted to complete. So, I guess it’s not counted.
Back to the topic, writing (complete articles) more than you can publish on you blog is part of a blogging strategy. Obviously this lessens the element of surprise but having a queue of articles at your fingers is a large advantage. Think about it this way, before writers block kicks in…kick it first.
Too many times I’ve had an inspiration for an article but not get to write it. Why? It’s not because I procrastinate but it’s because I forgot about what I wanted to write. That said adding writers block to the scenario makes it impossible to remember what I wanted to write. Even if I wrote down the title it won’t help. Even if I structured my points, I’ll end up having no mood to write out what I felt that time. Ending up with just an article…without feeling.
For that reason, I’m going to start making changes. I’m going to write whenever I have the inspiration and save it into my queue. The advantage my blog (or niche blogs) have over personal blogs is we aren’t documenting our personal daily feelings. Niche blog articles are aimed to help others overcome a predicament or discuss an issue. The only major setback we would have is if we waited too long to publish, we missed the wave.
So once inspiration hits, get it all down. Don’t let the fire burn and burn and only find wood when it rains and rains. Make an effort to kick down writers block before it strikes. Don’t let it get the better of you or your blog.
Start writing your articles and complete them to save it aside. Repeat this process for a week and tell me how it has improved your:
- Blog publishing consistency
- Blog management
- Personal time management
- Blogging strategy
- And other new experiences you get.
p.s: If you’re too worried about not publishing on time, implement automated blogging for WordPress.
