The No.1 Mistake to Generate Traffic to Your Blog

Blogging for about 3 years does teach you a thing or two to generate traffic to your blog. And you don’t have to wear a tutu to accomplish it. Lame pun but wanted to add some fun. Don’t blame me why I’m rhyming all of a sudden because it’s just words that are flowing out at the moment.

Anyway, ever since I started blogging I’ve noticed what could be the no.1 mistake bloggers make when they want to generate traffic to their blog. This might catch you as a surprise but I believe the no.1 mistake bloggers make is they start ignoring the existing blog aggregators.

A very good example I’d like to use is; Project Petaling Street (PPS). When I first started out, I’ve always ping and the traffic was very satisfying. Now I still do ping the blog aggregator but I’ve noticed many of the bloggers whom I’ve known back then like:

  • Kennysia
  • Minishorts
  • LiewCF
  • PaulTan
  • Jeff Ooi
  • ShaolinTiger
  • and a lot more of them…

Now don’t ping PPS. Some of the reasons I know and have heard before are:

  • I don’t like PPS.
  • PPS doesn’t give me enough traffic.
  • My blog is way above PPS. (Trust me, there are bloggers who think that.)
  • PPS is outdated.
  • and a whole lot more other reasons.

Dear bloggers, old or new, when you first started out you never did know if you’d become a blog celebrity or be the most sought after blog to date. In addition, when you first started out you were hunting for traffic like Tyrannosaurus hunting cows. Besides that, did you know there are more and more new bloggers joining PPS or other blog aggregators to date?

So answer the question; is you or your blog too almighty for PPS now?

New bloggers, my advice to you is to never ignore a blog aggregator no matter how popular your blog has already become because traffic is traffic. The more channels you open the more the traffic you will get.

What blog aggregators are you pinging at the moment?
