Rumoured Apple iPhone 1.1.3 Firmware Details

firmware 113I’m feeling Apple seems to be pretty desperate to either fix bugs or make sure their Apple iPhones aren’t unlocked time and time again. It seriously wasn’t long ago before Apple released their 1.1.2 firmware. And now, it’s rumoured a new 1.1.3 Apple iPhone firmware is due for release.

Nonetheless, I’ve read some of the items to be available for the Apple iPhone in the 1.1.3 firmware release and must say, I’m looking forward to this one. At least, more than the Apple iPhone benefits found in the 1.1.2 firmware – which I’m not using still.

The notable new features are:

  • Editable Home Screen (Icon rearrangement and dragging on the fly)
  • Locate Me integration with Google Maps (Not helpful with our Malaysia maps)
  • Send SMS to multiple people(Goodbye SMSD)
  • Add Safari Bookmarks to your Home Screen(Urm…)
  • Copy Paste option (Ahhh…)

Though the list isn’t as long as the Apple iPhone 1.1.2 firmware release, the ones I definetely want for myself are the multiple SMS sending and Copy Paste option. Although I could use SMSD to accomplish forwarding and multiple sending, I’ve found the applications slow compared to my Sony Ericsson W800i.

I’m not exactly sure how does the Copy Paste option will work but I’ve been wanting this function for awhile now. And it’ll be interesting to see how the Apple iPhone user interface (UI) designer pulls this off.

Oh yeah…I better inform you guys Gizmodo has a video of the Apple iPhone firmware 1.1.3 in action. In the video, they found 2 things that will affect a large number of Apple iPhone users.

Effects on unlocks and Third-party applications
The update breaks AnySim’s unlocks. Logically, you can’t unlock this update using AnySim and there’s no alternative to iTunes for activation. If you want to activate, it will only work using iTunes and a standard AT&T account.

p.s: It breaks AnySim and jailbreaking (installing of 3rd party applications)…again.
