Well, I’ve an even older iPhone – the 4GB! So upgrading to a 3G would be a well-received option for me. As for the unlock on Firmware 2.0, I’ve not heard anything at this moment. But it won’t be too long.

As for the price, I believe buyers shouldn’t expect a large difference in adjustment. Mainly due to Apple’s methods of curbing illegally exporting their devices in bulk to other countries. I believe now they expect AppleCentre customer service to sign up customers on the spot with a plan.

But time will tell before the 3G version reaches our shores.

Hi Danny,

Thanks for visiting my blog. I believe I have come across yours when I was doing research prior to my purchase of the iPhone which unfortunately looks set to become obsolete after the announcement of the 3G version. Any news on whether anyone has got their hands on 2.0 firmware and unlocked it yet?

Btw, what do you think the iPhone 3G will cost in Malaysia? Most people seem to be under the impression the new iPhone will cost less which is quite contrary. USD$200 sounded too good to be true and indeed is.

Can you get 16GB IPhones legally in Malaysia now and will they work over Maxis Hotlink service? Do you thing it is worth waiting for the new release that has 3G also? Always a dilemma to be an early adoptor or wait until the kinks get worked out to jump on the bandwagon.

I really want an IPhone soon. Are they really available now around KL and Selangor?

Hmm..good things come to those who wait. Hope that a 32GB | 64GB iphone version could be launched locally before X’mas..;)
