Google Adsense Introduces Expandable Advertisements

Not to worry. The expandable advertisements are unlike the irritatable (or, annoying) hover type link text advertisements. Google has always been friendly and it continues to do so. Even with the introduction of expandable advertisements.

So, how only will the ad expand?
Ads will expand only after a user clicks and interacts with the ad. Mouseovers or rollovers won’t trigger the ad, in order to prevent accidental expansions. Plus, Google mentioned an expandable ad won’t expand more than double its width or height. If I understand this, if it’s a large rectangle then it won’t be bigger than 600px in width and 500 in height. Hmm, it’s still pretty big I think.

Also, if the advertiser chooses to run a Cost-per-Click (CPC) campaign with an expandable ad, the publisher (yourself) will only generate revenue if the user clicks the ad and heads to the advetiser’s landing page. So, it’s not a click link, show ad and get revenue.

Who can apply for expandable ads?
Unfortunately, Asia isn’t one of them – yet. Only North America or Europe, with a website in Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish.

Sigh. They get all the cool stuff.

Why Tourism Malaysia Never Thought of This?

I was reading the papers at breakfast (yes, I still read printed stuff) and I found another great idea we could’ve used – especially, Tourism Malaysia. Why oh why couldn’t we have come with an online creative marketing campaign like this one to promote Malaysia!

Australia’s Queensland tourism is going to offer one (1) individual the luxury of staying in Queensland for 6 months and do what? Explore, experience and ultimately have a blast of a time writing about it. Who wouldn’t want that, right?

Plus, what makes this idea even more efficient is it’s using YouTube to host the videos. Therefore, less worries about bandwidth and more about the content and the person.

If you asked me, a woman is going to win the job hands down. And, some of them are either running their own online tech show or have a production crew behind them!

But the guys also have someone giving them a run for their money. Who doesn’t love a serenading (cute, I don’t know) guy?

So, why didn’t Tourism Malaysia think of this?

p.s: The only way a guy I tihnk will win this is if he’s a celebrity.

How Can I Get More Readers To Read This?

newspaper headlineThis in particular is the subject itself. Or, more commonly known as the headline, which catches the reader’s attention. It’s not every day you come up with a good headline then notice throngs of people wanting to read it. Well, you don’t need a headline if you’re already popular in my opinion. :P

Right now, I’m having a dilemma of my own with some headlines. It would be great if I could get feedback on them. Especially, which headline made you most curious and makes you want to know more.

  1. How can I increase my online sales?
  2. How can I get on Google, Yahoo or MSN?
  3. How can I generate more sales?
  4. How can I improve my website?
  5. How can I overtake my competitors?
  6. How can I get more customers to my website?
  7. How can I improve my website, get more enquiries, close more sales and be positioned in Google?
  8. 10 Reasons Why We Should Look at Your Website
  9. How to create a website?
  10. Stop thinking how to use a website today!

I’m also open to suggestions. The headline must convey curiousity and anxiety to want to know more about a website. Irregardless of its content. ;)
