Donate To A Beard For Charity
I was contemplating between the headline you see above and this one; Online Marketing Should Be Fun. However, I decided not to beat around the bush (pun unintended) and just share it as it is.
Meet Eamon Daly of Things My Beard Can Lift. He’s a bearded guy out there in US doing an uplifting charity event to help Off The Street Club (OTSC) raise donations. The OTSC is a place for neighbourhood kids to be more involved in communal activities so they get to trade in the violence and drugs for something more interactive with other kids.
Without further due, here’s the bearded men himself lifting a giant steel mixing bowl and 2 paddles approximately 40 pounds (18.2kg) in weight.
Indeed to the bearded people, this isn’t a relaxing experience. But it’s surely got the power to lift the human spirit.
Keep it up, Eamon! And the charity stint has already raised$4,174.00 at the time of publishing this post. His next challenge will be to lift 41 pounds (18.6kg). Cheer him on at Things My Beard Can Lift.
P1 Team Fixes and Enhances Malaysia Wimax Coverage Map
Few weeks ago, I received my promotional code for a 6-months free subscription of P1 Wimax. This was when I last visited the P1 Wimax booth at the third-leg of the PC Fair – along with the PC Fair booth babes. Naturally, first thing I wanted to know was if my area was covered. Plus, I didn’t want to find out I’m only at the fringe of coverage.
During this ordeal, I tried almost all available options to find out my coverage. I viewed the coverage map online, submitted an online enquiry, SMS them, call them and lastly, visited the P1 Wimax centre. I was forced to visit their customer centre because the previous coverage map (also using Google Maps) wasn’t reliable. But I guess my personal complaint lodged whilst at the centre was taken seriously.
Behold, the enhanced P1 Wimax coverage map using Google Maps.

What I love about it right now is the coverage areas are highlighted and there’s a compass you can move to see if your area is covered. Plus, I think the compass acts as the direction to where you face your P1 Wimax modem!

Finally, a coverage map which is easier and more accurate as compared to most coverage maps developed by any other network company.
Do you think P1 needs to have a weather forecast come network report in the coverage map?
P1 Featured My Blog In Their Email Newsletter
I had an influx of blog traffic few days ago. This was thanks to P1 for highlighting my blog post; P1 Wimax Increases Fair Usage Policy Limitations, in their email newsletter. I was wondering how did an ex-school friend of mine stumble on my blog until he mentioned his subscription to P1 wimax.

You can also read this edition of the P1 wimax newsletter online. Anyway, thanks for the linking love and I’m still waiting for my area to be covered.
p.s: You (P1 website team) may want to look into the coverage map. I’m not finding it very user-friendly.
What Happens When You Don't Have An Online Business Plan
I had a hunch his face was familiar. Anyway, Chee Aun last twitted a video about MindValley being on a reality TV show; Nescafe Kickstart. As far as I know, it’s a reality TV show for would-be entrepreneurs to promote themselves and realize their dream job or business opportunity.
So the video Chee Aun shared, actually featured an ex-collegemate of mine visiting MindValley. He proposed his idea but got caught with unexpected questions from MindValley; a company who lives by creating Internet businesses.
I’m not hear to promote Nescafe Kickstart nor MindValley. I’ve decided to share this because there are a lot of entrepreneurial-minded people in Malaysia. However, some haven’t realized or planned their online business plan.
Have you thought about how you (or, your company) can bring your business online?
Forum Designs Simplified
It’s all about the content. Not only for blogs, but for forums too. I was reading 10 Clean Forum Designs and noticed forum theme designs are becoming more simplified. No more real need to see who’s online or how many users are online at the moment.
This is good because many designers are starting to think and question what information is more relevant to the user. Sure, seeing 1,000 members online as an owner gets you off, but it’s worthless to the active user of the forum.

Even in the Low Yat forums, I have only bothered looking at the who’s online portion once in my entire membership. That was because I was bored even.
So if you’re a community forum owner, you might want to reconsider what information is important to your members – not you.
